Blue represents eternity and romance, but also gives people a sense of harmony, freshness and serenity. In the world of flowers and plants, there are many plants with blue flowers, among which blue iris is a very typical representative. And blue iris, whether as a landscaping or potted plant, has a very high ornamental value, in addition to sowing and reproduction, it can also be propagated separately. So, how to split the blue iris?

Ramet propagation is one of the common breeding methods of blue iris. Because it is a perennial herb, it does not need to reproduce every year. Blue iris can generally be bred every 2-4 years, and as long as the temperature is suitable, it can be carried out in spring and autumn, even after flowering. However, it should be noted that the ramet propagation of blue iris should avoid the Meiyu period, so as to ensure that the flower bud formation and differentiation can be completed before winter, and that it can blossom and enjoy flowers in the following year.

When giving blue iris ramet, it is necessary to remove the mother plant from the original basin, and then remove a large amount of soil adhering to the root of the plant, so that the rhizome is exposed as much as possible, which is more convenient for ramet operation. After removing the excess soil, we can use a sharp blade to cut the rhizome.

When cutting, you need to make sure that each part of the rhizome can have at least 1 bud, the original can have 2-4 buds is best, after all, when a bud is damaged, there is a spare bud to use. And it is very important to leave a certain number of buds per rhizome, because this is the key to cultivating blue iris potted seedlings. Cutting as far as possible in one step, to avoid secondary damage to the rhizome, thus affecting the survival and germination of the rhizome.

Of course, ramet should also be determined according to the specific situation, it is not appropriate to divide the rhizome too fine, otherwise it may affect the flowering effect of the second year. In the specific implementation process, some of the leaves in the upper part of the plant should be cut off in advance, keeping a height of about 20 centimeters, which can reduce water evaporation to a great extent. And when planting, we also need to pay attention to control the distance between seedlings, generally keep about 30 centimeters is more appropriate. But if you plant in a pot, you can also plant a ramet seedling in a flowerpot.

What needs to be paid attention to is that ramet is only a link in the process of planting blue iris, as for the growth status of seedlings in the later stage, it is also related to the planting method and growth environment, as well as whether the use of our maintenance and management means in the later stage is scientific and reasonable. In order to cultivate the blue iris well and show it with the most beautiful posture, in addition to the correct planting method, the maintenance and management work in the later stage should not be careless.
