Blue kite tail leaves green, shaped like a sword, the design and color is very gorgeous, when open, such as flying swallows dance, beautiful and interesting, so it has a very high ornamental value. People often plant this kind of flower plant in the garden, near the lakeside of the park, near the shallow water area of the river pond, and can watch both flowers and leaves. It is a kind of aquatic plant with great ornamental effect. However, it will be planted as a potted plant, placed indoors, often more fresh and elegant. So, how do blue irises reproduce?

Potted blue iris can be obtained by sowing and ramet. The method of sowing is used to breed blue iris seedlings, which can be harvested and sown immediately after the seeds are ripe, of course, they can also be sown in August-October of the same autumn after drying, or they can be sown in January-April of the following spring. Blue iris seeds sown in spring can generally blossom in the same year.

However, due to the different climatic environment in different regions, the specific sowing time is often different, and we can flexibly choose the sowing time according to our geographical location. However, no matter when sowing and breeding, temperature is required to meet the most critical condition. And in order to improve the germination rate, it is usually necessary to accelerate the germination of the seeds before sowing.

Before sowing, blue iris seeds usually need to be soaked in warm water for a whole day, and then sow after the seeds fully absorb water and swell, while ensuring that the ambient temperature is kept at 18 ℃-21 ℃, which is more suitable for germination. As long as the conditions are met, the seedlings can sprout smoothly in 2-3 weeks.

Compared with sowing reproduction, ramet propagation is generally carried out in spring and autumn, original or after flowering can also be carried out. When ramet, first dig out the rhizome of the mother plant, then pull out the excess soil, and then cut the rhizome from the right position with a sharp blade, and pay attention to ensure that each rhizome has a bud head, which is the key to ensure the germination of ramet seedlings. And when planting roots, make sure that the bud is exposed outside the soil and the rest is buried in the soil.

In order to increase the fertility of the soil, it is recommended to apply sufficient base fertilizer in the soil when planting. As the blue iris likes to be moist, it often needs enough water, especially in the flowering period, whether it is in the growing period or during the flowering period. Of course, you can apply fertilizer 3-4 times during the growing period, and pay attention to cleaning up the weeds in the soil and the withered and yellow branches and leaves from the plants. When it comes to the high temperature season in summer, it is generally necessary to spray more water to keep moisture and cool down, so as to ensure that the leaves and branches of the plant are strong.
