There are many varieties of triangular plum, and the color is also very rich, if we can let multiple varieties of triangular plum bloom on a plant, not only can bring a very magical effect, ornamental value will be better than the flowering effect of a single variety. Let the potted triangular plum bloom when it can produce colorful flowers, the ornamental effect is self-evident. But does everyone know how to do it?

In fact, there is a way to achieve this, and many friends have successfully tried. This method adopts the means of grafting, and as long as the climate is suitable and the grafting method is correct, the survival rate is quite high. In the past, the editor has pushed the triangular plum to achieve this growth effect by means of splitting. today, the editor will illustrate the method and process of grafting triangular plum by bud grafting.

First, cultivate scions

In order to facilitate us to obtain the scion needed in the budding process, we can cultivate the scion by cutting, and the triangulated plum is very easy to survive. However, it is usually necessary to keep the basin soil slightly dry in the process of cultivation, mainly in order to control the growth rate of cuttings by controlling moisture. Otherwise, if the cuttings grow too fast, there will be less nutrients and more water in the branches, which will have a certain impact on the survival of grafting.

After about 3 weeks of cutting, we can see the sprouting phenomenon of the cuttings of triangular plum, and when the branches and buds spread out 3-4 leaves and have been cultivated for about 35 days, we can cut off the whole upper part of the cuttings together with the branches and buds as a scion in the process of bud grafting.

2. Scion treatment

After the branches and buds of the upper part of the cuttings are cut off and used as scions, the original we need to cut them in a loop. Then use the grafting knife to properly trim the cut part of the scion so that its width is roughly similar to that of the rootstock, and at the same time let the incision just expose the cambium, so as to create conditions for closer bonding between the two.

III. Rootstock production

Rootstocks are suitable for selecting branches that have been born for about 3 months, usually truncating the branches before and after the Spring Festival to let the trunk pull out twigs. Then cut off the top of the branch selected as the rootstock, and the truncated length should be kept at 1/3 of the branch. And the position of this cut will be used as the incision for budding.

Next, cut off the leaves and thorns at the graft, but keep the branches and buds in this part, as shown in ①. The part between the position where the cut is to be made and the top of the next bud on the rootstock is removed with two knives, as shown in the ② operation.

IV. Grafting process

After the preparation is ready, insert the scion branches and buds into the incision of the rootstock, let the cambium of the two touch each other fully, and try to press them gently and forcefully, and pay attention to make the two join neatly and properly as far as possible. If the connection between the two is not neat, it should be properly adjusted and trimmed; if the cambium is very neat, the upper part of the rootstock and the upper part of the scion should be cut flat with a grafting knife.

5. Grafting bandage

After the scion and the rootstock are in full contact and neatly aligned, the grafted part is only wound with plastic film, and the tail of the film is fixed. But when winding and wrapping, it is necessary to expose the buds of the scion and the branches and buds of the rootstock, not to be wrapped in the film. Other parts should be completely wrapped tightly.

VI. Grafting completed

At this point, the budding process of Triangle Plum has been all over, and the work after that is to do a good job in daily maintenance and management. At the same time, note that if new shoots grow at the top of the rootstock, they should be cut off in time. If the branches and buds of the scion grow well after 2 weeks, we can remove the winding plastic film.
