Many potted friends like to grow orchids, but potted orchids generally sprout a large number of orchid seedlings after 2-3 years of growth. With the continuous germination and growth of orchid seedlings, the capacity of flowerpots is limited, so there is no room for too many orchid seedlings. And the soil in the basin is also limited, nutrients will also be exhausted, coupled with too many orchid seedlings, it is bound to affect the overall growth of the plant.

No matter from the consideration of promoting the growth of orchid seedlings, or from the ornamental value of potted plants, it is necessary for us to treat orchids in time. Otherwise, the orchid seedlings will not have enough space to grow in the original pot, and the overall ornamental of the potted plant will be greatly reduced. How long does it take to plant potted orchids?

Generally speaking, the time for orchid ramets should be chosen in spring and autumn, summer temperature is high, humidity is high, generally do not ramet, otherwise it is easy to infect bacteria, leading to orchid plant disease. In winter, due to the low temperature and slow plant growth, it is easy to cause the phenomenon that it is difficult for orchid seedlings to take pot quickly, so it is not suitable to split plants in winter. Therefore, when we give the orchid ramet, we must choose a good time.

In addition, we also have two principles: one is not to cut off the seedlings and buds of the orchid plant, the other is not to infect the virus orchid plant, otherwise it will bring the risk of death, at least the plant will appear the phenomenon of poor growth. These two points are two important factors that must be considered when we give the orchid ramets. The following is the process of dividing orchids, which is now shared with you.

First of all, the ramet should be removed from the pot. Take Cymbidium as an example, the necessary pruning treatment should be carried out before ramet. It is mainly to cut off the empty roots and withered false bulbs of the orchid plant, as well as the withered and yellow leaf tips and rotten leaves. After pruning, we can find the connecting stem of the root of the orchid plant, and then prepare for ramet treatment.

General ramet has a principle, for Chunlan generally divided into more than two seedlings, and gray blue is generally divided into more than three seedlings, try not to plant a single seedling. Because the general single seedling on the pot, often the seedlings grow too thin, and it is not easy to blossom. For pseudobulbs (connecting stems), scientific ramets should be carried out in accordance with the above principles.

But when ramets encounter resistance, do not pull hard, otherwise it is easy to destroy the orchid seedlings. Generally, the connecting stem is found first, and then the seedling is separated and then gently dragged around, because the connecting stem is generally relatively loose, just like a human joint, which can be twisted gently. The correct method of operation is to hold the false bulb in both hands, and then rotate gently in the opposite direction to separate the orchid seedlings several times in a row.

After sealing, the connecting stem may leave a wound, which can be treated with thiophanate-methyl. Just apply it directly to the wound, and then dry the treated wound a little to make it congealed and dry. After that, we can put these split orchid seedlings on the pot.

Potted orchids also have some points to pay attention to during the ramet period: first, the time of ramet should be mastered, generally in the spring and autumn season after the mother plant grows for 2-3 years; secondly, the ramet should not be too frequent; thirdly, weak seedlings can not be planted alone; finally, orchid seedlings without roots can not be planted in pot.
