Rich bamboo can be cultivated not only in soil, but also in water. But no matter soil culture or hydroponic culture, we have to get rich bamboo seedlings first. Therefore, we should master the breeding methods of rich bamboo. So, how does a rich bamboo reproduce? In fact, we can achieve it by cutting.

Cutting uses cutting materials, in addition to meet the growth of the substrate, but also need to prepare cuttings. Therefore, before cutting, we need to get a rich bamboo. Generally, a fresh side branch is obtained as a cuttage, and this side branch is a necessary breeding material.

When cutting, you should first peel off the leaves on the trunk of the cuttings and keep only 2-3 small leaves at the top. Then set it aside and prepare a sharp, sterilized knife and a wooden board. The next step is to put the cuttings on the board and cut them into cuttings according to the length needed.

When cutting the branches of Fugui bamboo, pay attention to cut the lower end into a 45 °angle slope, and the force should be uniform, clean and neatly cut off the lower end. The purpose of cutting the slope is to increase its contact area with the substrate so that it can take root more easily and absorb more nutrients and water.

Use a sharp knife to cut off the lower end of the branch cleanly and neatly, mainly in order not to leave sawtooth or tear on the incision, to avoid wound infection, and to provide protection for promoting its smooth rooting. Otherwise, it will inevitably affect the rooting of branches after cutting, and even cause rot.

After the cuttings are made in accordance with the above methods, the original cuttings can be used for water insertion and propagation, and they can take root in about 2-3 months. However, if it is planted in the soil, we cannot operate in the same way as above. Instead, the upper part of the branch should be truncated, and the lower branch should be used as cuttings. After making the cuttings, seal the upper part of the cuttings with wax to avoid wound infection.

Then smear some rooting agent on the base of the sealed lower branch, or soak it in the rooting solution. Then insert the base of the cuttings into the moist substrate. Pay attention to the use of wet substrate for cutting, if the use of dry substrate, after the cutting should be watered, and the cut at the base of the cuttings are often more likely to be infected after contact with water.

Therefore, fluvo-aquic soil cuttings are generally used to avoid watering after cuttings, and there is still humidity in the substrate to ensure the moisture needed for cuttings to grow. As long as the growth environment is suitable, the rich bamboo planted in the soil can still take root and sprout from the growing point at the same time.
