High-altitude striping propagation of plum blossom
Plum blossom not only has a wide variety, but also has different colors, but it usually exudes a pleasant fragrance. As the plum blossom is beautiful, fragrant and powerful, it is very suitable for potted cultivation, and can even be made into a bonsai masterpiece. For most plum blossom varieties, seedlings can often be bred by means of sowing, cutting, striping and so on.
However, as far as the propagation method is concerned, the strip propagation method has the characteristics of high survival rate, high reproduction efficiency and fast seedling formation, especially by high-altitude strip propagation, it is often very easy to obtain robust seedlings for pot cultivation. So, how do plum blossoms propagate under high pressure? Next, the editor will share with you the method of high-altitude striping propagation of plum blossoms.
1. High voltage time
In order to breed plum blossoms at high altitude, we first need to choose the best time to do it. Due to the different varieties of plum blossoms, the most suitable breeding time is also slightly different, some may be earlier, some may be later. Generally speaking, high-altitude striping propagation can be carried out in the whole growing season of plum blossoms, but in order to improve the success rate, it is usually the most appropriate to do it in February-May every year.
Second, select branches
After determining the best breeding time of plum blossom, we also need to select suitable branches from the mother plant for high-altitude reproduction, and generally choose 1-2-year-old robust branches for striping. Note that the branches we choose must be robust and undamaged, and the branches that look better and grow smoother and symmetrical are better. Although these factors will not have much impact on the success rate of striping, they can affect the growth of striping seedlings to some extent. Of course, but we can also choose branches that are more likely to destroy the beautiful plant shape for high-pressure propagation.
Third, the process of striping
After the preparatory work has been done, we need to carry on the necessary treatment to the selected branches. First of all, the original draw 2-3 knives in the appropriate position below the selected one, pay attention to control the strength, do not let the wound too deep, especially do not hurt the woody part of the branch, otherwise it will affect the rooting of the branch.
Next, the pre-prepared moist culture soil is wrapped with plastic film, which can be a mixture of peat soil and moss, or other loose and breathable substrates. The soil is then wrapped around the cut on the branch, and the plastic film is wrapped and fixed. Pay attention to seal the plastic film so that it can keep moisture.
IV. Cultivation and management
After about a month of high-altitude striping propagation, if all goes well, the branches used for striping propagation of plum blossoms will take root. After taking root, we can cut a deeper cut in the branch under the lamination site, about half the depth of the branch. Then raise it for another week, and a week later, we will cut off the uncut part of the other half of the branch, then remove the plastic film and transplant it in a pot.
The striping propagation of plum blossom is mostly carried out in spring, and after entering autumn, the striped seedlings can be transplanted into pots independently. And the plum blossom high-pressure reproduction method is mostly used for the cultivation of large seedlings, in accordance with the above methods for operation, generally next spring can let it blossom. At that time, we can enjoy its blooming style and feel the fragrance of the nostrils.
