Trees are attached to rocks, roots extend into cracks in rocks, branches twist and extend into caves or clusters on rocks, or hang under rocks, or slope horizontally beside rocks, so that strange stones and ancient trees contrast into interest

Stone-attached bonsai is a kind of bonsai plastic art, in which the trees grow on the stone and the stone trees form a whole. The trees are planted between the stones, and the roots extend the cracks between the people and the stones, and the branches stretch out on the stone caves or clusters on the stones, or under the overhanging stones, or sideways near the stones, so that the strange stones and ancient trees match each other with interest.

Stone-attached bonsai can be divided into two types: water-attached stone and dry-attached stone. Most of the water-attached stones are made of cancellous stones, such as water-absorbing stones, sand stones, etc., to make holes where trees need to be planted, and to use newly formed trees with multiple forms, first introduce the roots into the stone holes, fill the stone holes with broken mud, stick the soil and roots with bamboo poles, spray the soil and stones thoroughly with a spray can, then put them in a shallow water basin and place them in a cool place. Spray water on the stone tree every day, maintain humidity, wait for the tree to sprout, let it see the rising sun, gradually adapt to the sun.

Dry attached stone bonsai, take more hard stone, such as Yingde stone (various textures), embed the roots into the stone seams to take potential modeling, mostly use Fujian tea, elm, Mantianxing and other tree species with long roots, pick off the leaves, remove the soil from the roots, and introduce the roots into the stone seams according to the texture of the stone, and then tie them with iron wire.

In order to prevent root injury, you can first put on a piece of wood covered with rubber and promote the roots to be closer to the stone cracks, and then put the stone trees on the basin soil and bury the fine roots of the trees in the soil.

The initial maintenance method is like water-attached stone type, but do not let the western oblique sun shine directly on the stone root system, lest the stone burn the root after absorbing heat.

General banyan trees are suitable for boulder bonsai. After the stone is attached to the plant, it cannot be changed, so it must be carefully considered before making, and the stone and tree with the right shape must be selected.
