Although the miniature bonsai is relatively small, it is very exquisite, which can be said to reduce the display of the large landscape. After all, miniature bonsai is often dominated by flowers and plants, supplemented by small accessories such as mountains and rocks, which is in pursuit of a big effect in the small. And miniature bonsai occupies a very small area, even if it is put indoors, it will not take up too much space, but it can achieve an attractive viewing effect. The smaller the bonsai is, the less easy it is to maintain, so we need to master the maintenance skills.

For miniature bonsai suitable for display in the home, two basic conditions are often needed in the process of maintenance and management, that is, lighting and ventilation. Usually available places are balconies, windowsills, patios and other locations, but sometimes in order to save space, miniature bonsai can even be placed in a larger bonsai gap. This can not only save space, but also make miniature bonsai coruscate vitality in a more suitable environment. The maintenance skills of miniature bonsai mainly include five aspects:

1. Reasonable lighting

As the miniature bonsai often appears very beautiful, so many people like to put it indoors to enjoy, thus forgetting to provide the necessary lighting conditions for bonsai. If the miniature bonsai does not get enough light for a long time, the plants are prone to poor growth. Especially in the growing season such as spring and summer, it is generally placed indoors for no more than a week, and more often it should be placed outside in a semi-overcast environment for maintenance and management.

2. Proper amount of water and fertilizer

Due to the small size of miniature bonsai, the demand for nutrients is naturally relatively small, but water and fertilizer management can not be ignored. After all, the original miniature bonsai is also a kind of bonsai in the real sense, although the sparrow is small and well-equipped. If the miniature bonsai is in an environment of lack of water and fertilizer for a long time, it is often easy to cause withered and yellow leaves, shedding and other phenomena, while too much water and fertilizer will not only cause these problems, but also lead to overgrowth. Therefore, the intake of water and fertilizer must be appropriate, not too much, not too little, just right is the best. However, in addition to the normal watering and fertilization management, it is suggested that it should be sprayed to keep moisture, especially in the case of large water evaporation in summer. Spraying more water can not only moisturize and cool down, but also make the branches and leaves of plants cleaner and greener.

Third, pruning in time

For miniature bonsai, the general crown only needs to retain a small number of branches and leaves, so that the trunk can be better exposed, so the branches and leaves that do not need to be preserved need to be cut off or cut short. By truncating the long branches, we can maintain a more appropriate proportion between the branches and the trunk, and make the whole miniature bonsai look more coordinated and beautiful. Of course, if dry branches and long branches usually appear, they also need to be cut off, mainly in order to avoid wasted nutrients and affect the appearance of the plant.

4. Change the basin regularly

As we all know, many large, small and medium-sized bonsai often need to change basins regularly, on the one hand, to supplement nutrients, on the other hand, to increase the effective space of bonsai, so as to better promote the growth of plants. The same is true for miniature bonsai, which usually needs to be changed once in 1-2 years. But for miniature bonsai, it is often more difficult than ordinary bonsai, and it is more difficult to survive. After all, the plants selected by miniature bonsai are relatively small, and their roots are naturally not as developed as ordinary bonsai trees, so the whole process of changing pots should be careful. In particular, to grasp the time node, generally deciduous trees change pots before sprouting in early spring, while evergreens generally change pots after sprouting in spring or after cool weather in autumn.

V. Disease and pest control

Ordinary bonsai needs to reduce the invasion of diseases and insect pests by improving the environment, as well as for miniature bonsai. Not only need a suitable growth environment, but also need to do a good job in the prevention and control of diseases and insect pests, and for miniature bonsai, it often seems that it is no less difficult than ordinary bonsai, but it will be more difficult. As the bonsai is relatively small, the occurrence of diseases and insect pests is more hidden, so once recovered by leaf spot disease, aphids, red spiders, shell insects and other diseases and insect pests, it should be dealt with in time. Generally adopt the means of manual cleaning and spraying drugs, so that the effect is better.
