How to change miniature bonsai
The main purpose of changing the basin of bonsai is to improve the growth space of plant roots, so that the roots will not have problems due to space constraints, and after changing the basin can supplement new nutrients, so as to better promote plant growth. Not only the ordinary bonsai needs to be changed regularly, but even the miniature bonsai which looks very exquisite also needs to be changed in time.
The change of bonsai is usually carried out in spring, even for miniature bonsai. So, how to change the miniature bonsai? Today, the editor will share with you the process of changing miniature bonsai.
I. preparatory work
First of all, we need to prepare the tools and materials needed to change the basin, including miniature bonsai, shallow basin, scissors, wire cutters, wire, thread, scissors, soil, chopsticks and so on. Only when the preparatory work is done sufficiently, can we be leisurely and skillful in the process of concrete operation. In a word, we need to prepare all the tools and materials in advance.
2. New basin treatment
First of all, it is necessary to have multiple water outlets at the bottom of the selected new flowerpot, then put a layer of barbed wire inside the basin bottom, then wear the wire through the water outlet and the barbed wire, and then fix the barbed wire at the bottom of the basin. But the size of the wire needs to be flexibly selected according to the size of flowerpots, tree roots and water outlets. The wire can be folded into a U shape through the barbed wire mesh and the largest outlet of the basin floor, and then the wire can be stretched outward to the two ends outside the basin floor until the barbed wire of the basin floor can be fixed. Finally, a piece of wire is used to pass through the barbed wire in the basin in order to fix the bonsai tree later.
3. Remove the soil from the basin
In order to facilitate the removal of the pot and avoid causing too much damage to the roots of the bonsai trees, the original suggests using chopsticks to gently knock off the old soil that adheres to the roots of the trees. But you don't have to remove all the soil, you just need to poke out the outer soil, because retaining some of the necessary persistent soil can make the basin faster and survive better. Then cut off the overlong part of the lower part of the root. It is mainly to cut off the old, weak and thin roots at the lower end, of course, if there are thick and long roots that hinder the upper basin, they also need to be cut short.
IV. The process of potting.
First of all, pour some granular media such as red jade soil into the new basin, and then according to the tree potential of bonsai, personal preferences and other factors, the bonsai tree will be implanted into the new basin. Then cover a layer of basin soil, and the protruding wire is tightened and fixed with pliers. Because in the case of fixing the bonsai tree tightly, it can often make the soil contact with the root more fully, which is more conducive to the basin and survival after changing the basin. Finally, gently poke the basin soil with chopsticks to avoid too many gaps in the basin.
Fifth, clean up the debris
After completing the work of changing the basin, we also need to clean up the soil and sundries scattered on the edge and outer wall of the basin in time, so as to make the bonsai look more neat and beautiful. At the same time, it should be noted that whether it is changing the basin or transplanting it for the first time, it is often necessary to develop good cleaning habits and do a good job of cleaning the tail. Don't leave some unnecessary flaws just because the preliminary work has been done well.
At this point, the change of miniature bonsai is all over. However, it can be found that the process of changing miniature bonsai is more or less the same as that of ordinary bonsai, and the key point is to deal with the details and operate carefully.
