It is common for families to plant flowers in pots. Sowing is generally not limited, depending on demand, but melon industry chrysanthemum, lotus flower and so on are mainly sown in autumn.

When sowing, select a new or clean wide-mouth shallow spray or wooden box, cover the drainage hole at the bottom with tiles, pad with a layer of coarse sand or furnace ash about 3 cm thick as drainage and permeability, and then put on medium-sized culture soil (commonly used garden soil, rotten leaf soil and rice chaff ash), and put 3-4 cm thinner culture soil at the top. Shake the flowerpot gently every time you add a layer of culture soil to make the soil firm. Finally, the soil surface is scraped flat with bamboo and the larger particles are removed. Finally, the soil area is about 2 cm from the mouth of the basin, which can be sown. For small seeds, such as begonia, Baobao flower, paulownia, etc., in order to prevent seed overlap during sowing, the seeds can be mixed well with fine soil before sowing. The depth of soil cover is limited to the absence of seeds. After sowing a very fine seed, as long as it is in close contact with the basin soil, there is no need to cover the soil.

The general seed sowing method is used, that is, the seed is evenly sown on the basin soil, and the thickness of the covered soil is about 2 times of the seed diameter. Large-diameter seeds such as orchid, cyclamen and other seeds can be sown on demand, sowing 1 to 2 seeds per hole at a certain distance, and the soil cover should be thicker.

No matter what method of sowing is used, the soil surface should be leveled with small boards or hands after sowing, and gently pressed so that the seeds are in close contact with the basin soil. Finally, the soaking pot is used to boil water, that is, the flowerpot after sowing is put into a larger basin containing water, and the height of the water surface is about 5 cm lower than the soil surface of the pot. when the soil is completely wet, take out the flowerpot and place it in a semi-shady place covered with glass or Kraft paper and plastic film to keep warm and moisturize to facilitate germination. After the basin soil is slightly dry, boil water with the soaking method. After the seeds germinate, remove the mulch and gradually increase the light time. After the seedlings grow out of 2 true leaves, small pieces of bamboo can be used to plant the seedlings with soil into the prepared pot. After slowing down the seedlings, apply thin fertilizer. After a period of time, transplant the seedlings to a small basin with a caliber of about 8 centimeters, and then change the pot after the plant is slightly larger.
