It is simple and easy to propagate flowers with seeds in spring, and the new plants grow vigorously and have a long life. If you want to sow successfully, you must do a good job of "five hurdles".

Seed lifespan varies. Generally speaking, flower seeds can last for two, three years or more. However, some seeds should be sowed immediately after harvest, such as camellia, whose seeds are easy to lose their germination power in a dry state, and the seed germination power of primroses can only be maintained for a few months. Therefore, mastering the vitality of various seeds is the prerequisite to ensure the success of sowing.

Seed treatment of drupes and seeds with hard seed coat should be buried with sand in winter. Dry seeds in winter need to be soaked in warm or cold water before sowing, such as magnolia, rub off the seed coat and bury it in wet sand for about 100 days before sowing.

Whether the seeds can germinate or not depends on four conditions: moisture, temperature, ventilation and light. The soil should not be dry or wet after sowing (except aquatic flowers). Poor over-wet ventilation, seeds easy to rot, too dry, especially in the germination stage, will stop germination or death. The germination temperature varies with different flowers, and the best germination temperature is 20 ℃ ~ 25 ℃, and the soil should be loose when sowing.

There are two sowing methods: pot sowing and ground sowing. Most of the green seedlings are sown on the ground, and the soil should be prepared carefully. According to the different seed size, large seeds should be sowed on demand or strip sowing, while small seeds should be sowed. The thickness of covering soil also depends on the size of seeds. The thickness of covering soil of large seeds is 2-3 times of the diameter of general seeds.

The management of seeds after sowing should keep the soil moist and pay attention to pot mulch in order to increase the rate of seedling emergence and pay attention to ventilation and light after emergence.
