Magnolia likes warm, humid and semi-overcast environment. If the temperature exceeds 28 °C, the growth will be restrained. If the temperature exceeds 30 °C, it will be in a semi-dormant state. The summer is hot in many parts of China, and the temperature is as high as 30 °C, which is not conducive to the growth of Cymbidium. Due to the high temperature, the leaves are easy to grow, the leaves are thin and slender, the leaves are rough and yellow, and the veins of the leaves are not clear, which is harmful to the ornamental value, and the muggy weather is also easy to cause rotting roots. In order to make the orchid safely through the hot summer, it is necessary to take a series of maintenance measures centered on cooling.

1. Shading and cooling

The light is strong in summer, so shading measures should be taken. At this time, it is best to let it receive 2 hours of morning light every day, such as grape trellis or shade is more ideal. Because in this environment, the temperature of direct sunlight is 5-10 °C, and it is well ventilated. After entering the autumn, move to the sun, such as indoor maintenance should be placed on the north balcony.

2. Watering to cool down

From 10:00 to 5 pm every day in summer, a small sprayer can be used to spray water on the leaf surface several times and sprinkle water to the ground at the same time, which not only reduces the temperature in the range, but also increases the air humidity.

3. Laying sand to cool down

Spread a thick layer of roving on the balcony, and then put the orchid basin on the sand surface. Sprinkle water on the sand surface 2-3 times a day in summer, which can reduce the temperature and increase the air humidity.

4. Proper watering

The summer climate is hot, and the growth of Magnolia is slow or stagnant. Therefore, watering should be appropriate, and it is appropriate to keep about 30% of the water content in the soil.

5. Control fertilization

If the temperature can be lowered below 25 °C in summer, thin liquid fertilizer can be applied every half a month, which can shorten dormancy or not dormancy and blossom early. If the temperature is above 25 °C, fertilizer should be stopped, otherwise it is easy to cause rotten roots.
