The common pests of Cymbidium are shell insects, which often gather on the tender shoots of leaves, absorb leaf juice, and secretions turn stems and leaves into mildew and black, causing soot disease and causing leaves to wither. Scale insects have strong fecundity and can produce many generations a year. A female adult can often reproduce hundreds of nymphs, which can cause plant death if not controlled in time.

Prevention should be the main method for the control of shell insects. At ordinary times, we should always pay attention to check the plant, and find that insect pests should be eliminated as soon as possible. Artificial and drug can be used in prevention and treatment. If only a few leaf tips find pests, they can be scraped manually, sharpened with thin sticks or removed with bamboo sticks. If a large number of nymphs appear, 25% imidophos emulsion can be sprayed and killed with 1000 times.

In addition, earthworms can also become pests of magnolia. The fleshy roots of Cymbidium plants are tender and weak when they are young, such as earthworms in the basin soil, which often drill everywhere, injuring the tender roots, destroying the function of absorbing nutrients, stopping the growth and development of the plants or causing rotten roots. The control method is to always pay attention to whether there are round soil particles (that is, earthworm excrement) on the surface of the basin soil. if it is found that it can be irrigated immediately with 1500-2000 times of dichlorvos EC, remove it immediately if there is earthworm drilling, and control it again after 7 days.
