Notes on the introduction of edible fungi, fatal orchid rot
For orchids, the harm of rot is very serious and spreads rapidly. There are two kinds of orchid rot: soft rot and black rot.
In the early stage of soft rot, tiny brown water stains appear on the leaves, and then expand into black moist patches, which are easy to rupture and discharge foul-smelling liquid. After that, the orchid plant will rot quickly. The disease is easy to occur in the rainy and humid season above 30 ℃.
Black rot is a fungal disease, which mostly occurs in leaves; at the root base and growing point, translucent spots initially appear at the diseased site, the spots gradually expand, the tissue blackens and gradually rot. When it begins to appear on the root system or underground stem, it should be paid attention to. If it is not controlled, it will soon spread from the root system to the whole underground stem, until the plant will be completely destroyed. In a very short time, the disease can make the orchid rhizome turn black and the leaves blacken and rot.
Prevention and cure method
After the orchid is infected with rot, it is necessary to turn the basin and change the soil in time, cut off all the tissues of the diseased part and burn them centrally, then wash and disinfect the cut with clean water, smear sulfur powder, dry it in a cool and ventilated place, and then put it back on the basin after the incision shrinks. After putting on the basin, do not water or spray for 3 to 4 days. Use 50% thiram plus 500 times water to make a solution and spray it once. The planting environment should be ventilated and illuminated. The diseased plants after rescue should be temporarily isolated from other orchids to avoid infection. When it grows normally and is not contagious, it can be put together with other orchids. (source: China Flower Daily)
