The pathogen of edible fungus-based rot is Pythium. It belongs to flagellum and is a parasitic disease. Damage to the base of the mushroom, causing the base of the fruiting body to rot, producing a layer of white woolly mold in the diseased part, mycelium branching.

In the germicidal period, the bacteria is also easy to contaminate the culture material, the symptom of contamination is that black areas are found in the middle of the culture materials, the size of the black area varies from a few centimeters to more than 1 meter, and the bacteria in the adjacent area is good, so it is difficult to be found and ignored. This bacteria generally occurs more in the areas with high nitrogen content, and the yield decreases after the culture material is contaminated by this bacteria, especially the first and second tide mushrooms. However, the yield of the later tide increased somewhat, because when the nitrogen content decreased, the mushroom hyphae grew into the black area.

Control methods: when accumulating culture materials, cake fertilizer and nitrogen fertilizer should be stirred evenly, and nutrients should be added carefully in the later stage of mushroom emergence to ensure that nutrients are evenly distributed in the material. When diseased mushrooms are found, remove them in time, spray 1 ‰ mercury solution in the disease area, or cover the paper in the disease area, and spray 2% formaldehyde solution on the paper every other day.
