Must gypsum and lime be added to the cultivation materials of edible fungi?

Gypsum, also known as calcium sulfate, is added to about 0.5% of the total culture material. It can supplement the nutrient elements such as sulfur and calcium needed for the growth of edible fungi, and stabilize the PH value, so that the pH of the culture material does not change greatly.

Lime, quicklime used in the production of edible fungi, is also called calcium oxide. The addition amount is about 2% of the total culture material, which can not only supplement calcium for the mycelial growth of edible fungi, but also can be used to adjust the PH value of the culture material. In addition, it can prevent the pollution of miscellaneous bacteria and buffer the organic acids produced in the process of mycelium metabolism.

Quicklime must be added when mixing. If conditions permit, gypsum should be added.
