The pathogen of edible fungi base rot is Pythium. It belongs to flagellates and is a parasitic disease. Harm mushroom base, cause fruiting body base to rot, produce a layer of white woolly mold in diseased part, hyphae branch. In the growth period, this bacterium is also easy to pollute the culture material. The symptoms of pollution are that black areas are found in the middle of the culture material. The size of the black areas varies from a few centimeters to more than 1 meter. The adjacent areas are good, so it is difficult to be found.

Control methods: When stacking culture materials, cake fertilizer and nitrogen fertilizer should be evenly stirred, and nutrients should be carefully added at the later stage of fruiting to ensure that nutrients are evenly distributed in the materials. If diseased mushrooms are found, remove them in time and spray 1‰ mercuric chloride aqueous solution in the diseased area; or cover the diseased area with paper and spray 2% formaldehyde aqueous solution on the paper every other day.
