Jonagin is a high-quality American apple developed in the 1940s. As the name suggests, this is a cross between Jonathan and Golden Crown. It is grown very widely, and for the Golden Crown Cross, it is not confined to warm apple areas, although it is not common in Britain.

Jonathan, another of Jonagin's parents, is an ancient American breed that was discovered in the 1820s.
In the UK Jonagold sometimes appears in supermarkets in the spring as "valuable" apple packaging, usually from the Netherlands, and at a very low price.
