It is better to plant camellias in deep pot or shallow pot or deep pot.
Many potted friends like potted plants to grow camellias, but for many novice potted friends, they have made difficulties in using pots. It is mainly unclear whether it is suitable to grow camellias in deep or shallow pots, and whether it is better to plant camellias deeply or shallowly. In fact, we have to decide whether it is better to plant in deep pots or shallow pots according to their growth habits.
As the root distribution of camellia is not very developed, especially the vertical growth of the root deep is not obvious, so it is generally recommended to use shallow pot for shallow planting, which is more conducive to plant growth. But this is not absolute, for large cliff-style camellia bonsai is often recommended to use deep pot planting is good.
Planting camellias is not recommended to use deep pots for transplanting, the original because the root system of camellias is not particularly developed, the growth is not very deep, and orchids, clematis and other flowers and plants are different. But if we have to grow camellias in deep pots, it's OK. Why is that?
Because we can add a very thick drainage layer at the bottom of the deep basin, such as larger stones, tiles or foam, as long as it is a matter with poor water solubility. We can even use the small black basin that we often see at ordinary times, and then put it at the bottom of the deep basin and directly set up the bottom. In this way, the bottom of the deep basin can also play a good drainage role.
If you use a deep basin to grow camellias, you must make a relatively thick drainage layer at the bottom of the basin, otherwise, because the root system of camellias cannot grow so deep, and if there is too much basin soil, it is easy to cause stagnant water in the basin and cause the optimistic phenomenon of stuffy roots, retting roots and rotten roots. Therefore, for general potted camellias, it is more suitable to be planted in shallow pots.
