Lotus pond mud is not only fertile, but also very soft, which is the best culture medium for bowl lotus. However, when we use the lotus pond mud pot to grow lotus bowl lotus, it is not recommended to use it directly. It is often necessary to precipitate the lotus pond mud in advance before using it. Moreover, the so-called lotus pond mud used by many basin users is actually made by retting garden soil with yellow sand or river sand mixed with some basic fertilizer, so it is not natural lotus pond mud, and it should be precipitated in advance before use. So, how long does it take to precipitate the lotus pond mud?

If we use homemade lotus pond mud, we can put it into the water several times to let it precipitate. And every time you put it into the soil, you need to let the soil you put in the last time precipitate slightly and then release the soil for the next time until the mud in the whole flowerpot is evenly precipitated. Generally, before preparing to raise a bowl of lotus, it is recommended to add half a basin of lotus pond mud in the basin 2 days in advance, but do not fertilize. In other words, the lotus pond mud usually takes 2 days to precipitate before it can be used.

After putting the lotus pond mud into the basin and adding water to precipitate for 2 days, we pour out the water from the soil, and then plant the lotus seeds in the lotus pond mud. Make sure that the part of the bud is exposed outside the soil, and the rest is not in the soil. And we also need to control the thickness of the lotus pond mud in the basin, generally need to maintain the thickness of 3-5 cm is more appropriate.

For the acquisition of lotus pond mud, if it is convenient for everyone, it is recommended that you dig it out from the lotus pond. This is the natural lotus pond mud, and the quality is also very high. Of course, we can also buy lotus pond mud from the flower market or buy it online to grow lotus bowls, but the lotus pond mud sold from merchants is often self-made soil, not really dug out of the lotus pond. Therefore, before use, we must pay more attention to adding water immersion and precipitation.

However, after putting the purchased or self-retted lotus pond mud into the basin, be sure to fill it with enough water to completely immerse the soil in water, and use wooden sticks and other tools to fully mix the soil with water, and then let the mud-water mixture in the basin completely precipitate. The precipitation process can take as little as 2 days and as long as 10 days before it can be used. If the lotus pond mud is obtained from the lotus pond, it usually only needs to be precipitated for 2 days and can be used; if the lotus pond mud is self-made or purchased, it often takes more than 10 days to use. The precipitation time is often determined according to the composition of the soil.

After settling the lotus pond mud, pour out the upper layer of water, then bury the prepared budding bowl lotus or bowl lotus tubers into the soil, and then add the right amount of water to start raising bowl lotus bowls. And in the early stage of planting bowl lotus, it generally takes 3-5 days to change water, and when bowl lotus seedlings grow to a certain size and have the ability to purify water quality, properly reduce the frequency of water change, and then carry out normal maintenance. Usually after 3 months, we can enjoy the beauty and elegant demeanor of the bowl lotus blooming.
