Zhu Dinghong culture method is simple, in most cases casually buried in the soil can flourish, and even the light ball forgotten in the corner can tenaciously blossom. There are many varieties of Zhu Dinghong, which is not inferior to tulips. Zhu Dinghong likes a warm and humid climate, and the suitable temperature for growth is 18-25 degrees Celsius.

Zhu Dinghong is dormant in winter and is required to be dry, with a temperature of 9-12 degrees and a minimum of no less than 5 degrees. In the south of the Yangtze River basin, as long as a little protection can pass the winter. Pot Zhu Ding red flowerpot should not be too large (usually use 16-20 cm diameter flowerpot first), lest the pot soil should be wet for a long time, resulting in bulb rot, the basin soil should be mixed with rotten leaf soil and sand, and some mature cake fertilizer or chicken and duck manure should be applied to the bottom of the pot before planting.

When planting, the bulb will be exposed to the soil, after planting, the basin soil will be pressed solid, leaving 2-3 cm along the mouth, watering once, after not more watering, maintain a low humidity, and avoid direct sunlight, when the leaves are about 10 cm long, then normal watering, and begin to apply topdressing, to stop fertilization after the formation of flower buds (but after anthesis can apply appropriate amount of fertilizer to promote bulb fatness).

After flowering, the withered stems should be cut off in time to avoid wasting the nutrients of the bulbs. Watering should be reduced gradually after autumn, and the basin soil should be slightly dry. Winter should be moved indoors for the winter, watering is as little as to keep the bulb from withering, and the temperature is not less than 5 degrees, otherwise it will affect dormancy and flowering in the coming year.

Potted Zhu Dinghong, choose loose, fertile slightly acidic rotten leaf soil or peat soil. Flowering bulbs with a circumference of 24 cm and 26 cm need 12 cm pots, and commercial cultivation also uses 18 cm pots to plant 3 bulbs. The planting depth is based on the fact that the bulbs are exposed to the basin soil. Water less when first planting, and keep the pot soil moist when flower stems or leaves appear. During the growing period, fertilization was applied once a month, and phosphorus and potassium fertilizer was applied once after the flower stem was extracted.

Continue to supply water and fertilizer after flowering to make the bulb strong and full. Zhu Dinghong is often promoted in commercial production. The flowering bulb pretreated with low temperature of 5 ℃ for 50 days blossoms 6 weeks after planting under the condition of soil temperature 21 ℃ and room temperature 17-19 ℃. According to the experimental report, the bulb soaked in indole acetic acid can increase the weight and quantity of the bulb. Soaking the bulb with gibberellin (GA3) can increase the weight of the bulb and the diameter of the flower. Soaking with CCC can increase the number of flowers. Spraying red leaves with indoleacetic acid, gibberellin and dwarf can also increase the number of bulbs and flowers.

If Zhu Dinghong collects seeds, artificial pollination should be carried out to improve the seed setting rate. As the seeds of Zhu Dinghong are flat, extremely thin, easy to lose water and lose their germinating power, they should be sown immediately after seed collection. Such as bulb production, cut off the flower stem in time after flowering, so as not to consume the nutrients of the bulb. After the leaves grow, strengthen the fertilization to promote the bulb to enlarge and produce new bulbs. The bulb can be stored for 8 weeks at 13 ℃ and for a long time at 5 ℃.

Note after flowering:

After blooming, the aboveground part of Zhu Dinghong bears fruit, while the underground part grows bulbs. In order to make the bulb grow full, robust and full of seeds, attention should be paid to:

① fertilization. Liquid fertilizer should be applied 1-2 times after flowering, and compound fertilizer should be selected, or phosphorus and potassium fertilizer should be added, which is beneficial to the growth of bulbs and seeds.

② moisture. Do not need frequent watering, the matrix should be dry.

③ potted safflower should be moved to a semi-overcast, well-ventilated cool environment for maintenance.
