Pocket coconut is a small evergreen shrub native to Mexico and Central America. It is generally about 20-30 cm high and the taller species can reach up to 1 meter. Family farming is generally small pocket coconuts, placed in desks, living rooms, balconies and other places. Let's briefly talk about how to raise pocket coconuts.

1. Lighting: pocket coconuts like a semi-shady environment and are most afraid of bright light, which is very good in the greenhouse. When exposed to strong light, the leaves will turn yellow, and may also be dry-pointed or scorched, but if placed in a place with extreme lack of light for a long time, the plant will become thin and long. So if you put it indoors, you'd better put it by the window and other places with light, instead of keeping it in a cool place for a long time.

2. Temperature: pocket coconuts like to be warm, and the suitable growth temperature is about 20 ℃. Pocket coconuts planted in Suzhou in winter must be moved indoors for maintenance, otherwise the temperature is lower than 10 ℃, it is easy to suffer frost damage. But it's best not to blow next to the air conditioner, which will be counterproductive.

3, moisture: pocket coconuts like to drink water, to keep the soil moist during growth, that is, hands on the soil can feel water, but it is best not to have stagnant water, which has little effect on aquatic plants and wet plants. it's extremely bad for most plants. In addition, pocket coconuts like high air humidity, so liquid surface spraying can be used to increase air humidity. The dehydrated leaves may turn brown or dry.

4. Fertile soil: compound fertilizer can be applied once a month during the growing period, and liquid fertilizer can be used for some hydroponics. Soil with good drainage, loose and fertile best, you can use rotten leaf soil; or peat, vermiculite, perlite, plus a small amount of raw soil according to a certain proportion is also possible.

Key points of maintenance:

Lighting: this pot should be placed at the window where there is scattered light every 2-3 days. Avoid shining when the sun is strong at noon.

Temperature: the suitable temperature during the growing period is 15-30 ℃, which is suitable for indoor temperature.

Humidity: due to the influence of indoor air conditioning and dry weather, spray water to the leaves about twice a day.

Watering: watering should be appropriate, it is recommended to water twice a week, watering along the plant stem, the amount of water is 50ml (commonly used disposable cup is about 1 to 4), and the amount of water should be reduced appropriately in winter.

Fertilizer: apply granular fertilizer once a month (about 4-6 tablets each time), evenly outside the sprinkler, do not sprinkle on the roots of plants or come into direct contact with plants.

Note:

1. Don't put pocket coconuts in direct sunlight. Pocket coconut is most afraid of strong light, even if it is exposed to the sun for a short time, it will cause the leaves to scorch and yellowing. Of course, if you leave it in a dry and dark place for a long time, the color of the leaves will become lighter and lose their luster. Therefore, it is best to put it in the north window, near the east window or other places with bright scattered light.

2. Pay attention to ventilation. Diseases are easy to be infected under high temperature and high humidity.

3. The pots need to be changed every 2-3 years, and new plants can be obtained by combining ramet.
