Potted lotus plants should choose ornamental strains suitable for potted plants, such as "Buddha's seat", "Chongtai", "Bijiangxue", "Da Bilian", "Yi Zhang Qing", "Jiao Rong San Chan", "Shouxing Peach", "West Lake" and so on. We all know that in the hot summer season, the lotus in the pond is particularly luxuriant. Raising lotus in a potted plant is a feeling closer to life.

The lotus planted in the family is mainly for the purpose of watching the flowers, while the lotus root planted in early summer does not show buds or blossom in the flowering season, which is not a normal phenomenon. The failure of the lotus to blossom is caused by a variety of reasons. if the lotus does not blossom at the flowering stage, we should take more care, improve the maintenance methods, and wait for the flowering next year! This article introduces the reasons why the lotus does not bloom!

1. Different varieties

There are wild and special edible varieties of lotus, which originally flowered less, the growth ability of rhizome was stronger, flowering was less, and even did not blossom. In addition, the varieties are also slightly different in different flowering stages. Some varieties did not begin to bud until early August and blossomed later.

Solution: before planting to fully understand the habits of the lotus, do not blossom late, mistaken for non-flowering!

2. The container transmits light.

Lotus bud differentiation needs to be in a relatively airtight environmental glass container or white plastic pot is not conducive to flower bud differentiation. Poor development of flowers can affect flowering.

Solution: if there are stomata around the flowerpot, try to seal it with black tape paper, and try not to use white or even transparent flowerpots.

3. Lack of light

Lotus is a sunny plant, the growth environment needs good ventilation and adequate light. If you grow in a shady environment for a long time, the growth of the plant can not get enough light, or because of the weather, it is difficult for the lotus to blossom because of the continuous rainy days during the differentiation of flower buds.

Solution: put the lotus in a sunny place

4. The bowl is too small

The lotus needs the most space to grow. Different varieties need different growth space, so the basin should be determined reasonably according to the growth of its rhizome. If the basin is small, the plant enters the incubation period, the rhizome growth space is crowded, the bud has no growth space, and it is difficult to blossom.

Solution: reasonable selection of pots, according to different plant types to select flowerpots.

5. Excessive density

Excessive density means that there are two or more lotus plants in the basin, or the leaves are denser, block each other, and the plants are poorly ventilated, affecting flowering!

Solution: plant only one plant in a pot; the lotus with dense leaves prune the leaves in time to increase the light transmittance.

6. Improper depth of basin mud.

The depth of basin mud also has a great impact on plant growth, the basin mud is too deep, the root of the plant is impervious, the growth of flower buds is limited; the basin mud is too shallow, the root system can not fix the plant, the flower bud is easy to shake in the soil, can not develop normally.

Solution: usually small varieties of basin mud in 17cm to 20cm, and the basin soil is not easy to be too loose. For medium and large varieties, the basin mud should be more than 30cm.

In addition, potted lotus needs to be replanted every year, otherwise the growth is poor, the leaves are not luxuriant, and it is not easy to blossom.

Note:

Potted lotus should be suitable for potted ornamental strains, such as child lotus, Jiaolian, Bandi lotus, Buddha lotus, bowl lotus and so on. The pots used for potted lotus plants should use lotus pots, bucket pots or shallow vats, with a general inner diameter of 50 cm and a box depth of about 70 cm. The bottom of the basin is first sprinkled with 1.5 mm thick sand, then covered with pastoral soil 3-5 cm thick, and then put in cake fertilizer, bone fragments, chicken and duck manure as base fertilizer (200-300 grams per basin), and then put 4-5 cm of garden soil on top. Ching Ming Festival before and after planting lotus root, choose at least 3 lotus root, keep the terminal bud, waist bud and tail bud intact, each pot can plant 1 lotus root. Plant lotus root on the edge of the pot, low head and tail high oblique planting pot, lotus root head covered with soil 7 cm, tail covered with soil 1 cm 3 cm, invisible as the degree. Keep about 15 cm from the soil surface to the edge of the basin for future irrigation.

After planting, put it in a well-ventilated and sunny place. At the beginning of planting, the water should be shallow, the water depth is 1cm to 2cm, accept more sunlight to increase the soil temperature. Wait for the floating leaves to grow, and then gradually deepen the water level. In the period of vigorous growth of lotus buds at high temperature in midsummer, it is necessary to keep the basin full of water; one month after planting, apply rotten cake fertilizer and water once, after vertical leaves are extracted, apply rotten cake fertilizer water or 0.1% concentration of urea and potassium dihydrogen phosphate 1 times twice, nitrogen fertilizer should not be excessive. 0.5% superphosphate was applied once every 10 days during flowering in July, and applied continuously for 3 times. Lotus root began to grow in early August, do not apply fertilizer at this stage; there are too many floating leaves in the basin, some of the old floating leaves should be stuffed into the mud, so that the leaves in the basin will not be overcrowded. Frosts Descent after the leaves withered and yellow, cut off the residual leaves, remove debris, placed indoors, room temperature to keep 3-5 ℃, basin soil to keep moist, no light.
