The epidemic of classical swine fever in Africa spreads again and North Korea falls! The Central disaster response Center for Classical Swine Fever in Africa issued a press release late on the 30th to explain the latest development of the epidemic. North Korea has informed the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) of the African classical swine fever epidemic, becoming the fifth country in Asia, and South Korea has also been listed as a high-risk area by Taiwan. The response center announced that from the 31st, passengers from South Korea will have their luggage checked.

The response Center said late on the 30th that North Korea informed the OIE of the African classical swine fever case on the 30th, making it the fifth country in Asia after China, Mongolia, Vietnam and Cambodia to have an African swine fever epidemic, and the first in Northeast Asia. The first case of African classical swine fever in North Korea occurred in a pig farm in the central and western province of Chagang-Do, raising 99 pigs, of which 77 died, with a fatality rate of 100%. The remaining 22 have been culled. The location of the first African classical swine fever in North Korea is close to China's Liaoning and Jilin provinces, and Liaoning is also the site of China's first African classical swine fever.

There are no direct flights between Taiwan and North Korea, but there is a very frequent flow of passengers between Taiwan and South Korea. Although South Korea has no African classical swine fever epidemic for the time being, it has been listed as a high-risk area by the emergency center for the first time because it has no obvious geographical boundary with North Korea. The airport has already checked 100% of checked baggage, and passengers from high-risk areas also have to check 100% of their hand luggage. China, Hong Kong, Macao, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar and Thailand have been listed as high-risk areas with South Korea.

Chen Jizhong, chairman of the Council of Agriculture, also posted a Facebook PO post late on the 30th, reminding flights from South Korea to fully carry out 100% baggage inspection from the 31st.
