How to replace maple potted plants
April is a good time to replace bonsai. Pot trees grow in limited pot soil. After a certain number of years, the fertility is exhausted, the soil layer is hardened, the roots are densely packed, and the new roots are squeezed from each other. It is best to replace them with larger pots and fill them with new soil (changing soil without changing pots is also possible) to ensure the normal growth of pot trees. Experts are accustomed to calling them "changing pots".
After the stump grows in the pot for 1 to 2 years, the root system will be full in the pot, so that the pot soil is hardened, it is difficult to ventilate and drain, and the nutrients in the soil are almost absorbed by the plants. Moreover, due to the growth of the stump, the root system is developed, and the original pot is not suitable for the continued growth and cultivation of the stump, so it is necessary to change the soil and change the pot. The following is a demonstration of the maple bonsai replacement process/method diagram:
The state of maple trees and pots before changing pots.
The flowerpot needing to be replaced is brushed, so that the operation of replacing the flowerpot is convenient.
Use a hook or spatula to separate the roots from the pot to remove the maple from the pot.
The root condition of maple trees after pot removal.
Prepare a new flowerpot, fix the filter net with iron wire at the bottom of the pot, and put on iron wire to facilitate fixing the maple tree and pot.
Remove the outer layer of old soil with an iron hook.

Clean and prune the roots, especially the upward protruding roots A, B and C in the picture, so as to expose the thick roots at the lower part in the later stage.

The effect of root trimming on all sides.
The root system at the bottom is also tidied and pruned in the same way. The principle of pruning is to remove coarse and save fine.
A layer of slightly larger soil is laid on the bottom of the basin to facilitate the drainage of water and not to accumulate water.
According to the tree shape, put the maple tree in the pot, not necessarily placed in the middle of the pot. After placing, fix the tree with pre-inserted wire.
Continue to add soil, while adding soil, while tamping with a small stick, so that there is no gap at the root.
After filling up the soil, the soil should be slightly lower than the edge of the basin, so that it is not easy to overflow when watering.
Water is poured thoroughly, and the work of changing pots is finished.
