Meinong Lake is the second largest lake in Kaohsiung City after Chengqing Lake. Under the embrace of the northern mountains, its seasonal changes in the lake and mountain scenery is the most important local tourism resources.

The water pheasants with the title of "Lingbo fairy" used to forage and perch in Meinong Lake in autumn and winter, but in the early summer of May 2017, water pheasants dressed in beautiful summer feathers began to appear on the banks of Meinong Lake. They have black, white and yellow breeding feathers, white head and front neck, golden yellow patches on the back neck, black thread and white feathers around them, and slender and beautiful long tails, which attract people's attention.

In order to let the water pheasant settle down in Meinung, Liu Hsiao-Shen and Huang Shu-mei, a couple of retired teachers, rented a wetland. "the restoration of the water pheasant in Guantian has been very successful, and Meinung Lake should also have the opportunity to promote environmental restoration. Let the water pheasant be willing to stay and continue to carry on the family line in Meinong!"

The water pheasant is polygamous and polygamous.

The water pheasant can be called the best spokesman for "polyandry" in the bird world. The breeding period of the water pheasant is from April to September every year. After the female bird completes mating with the male bird to lay eggs, the next task of hatching and feeding the young will fall to the male bird, while the female bird will continue to mate, mate and lay eggs with other male birds. It is very common for a female bird to move among several males during a breeding season.

There are already three water pheasant nests on the banks of Meinong Lake this year, all of which are love nests built by the same bird mother and three different bird fathers. At present, the mother bird is having an affair with the fourth male bird, but it is inevitable to encounter the father of the first three birds, constantly begging the mother bird for fun. At this time, people watching birds on the edge of the wetland will see funny pictures of the mother bird spreading its wings and threatening the father of the bird.
