With the enhancement of people's understanding and awareness of green environmental protection concepts, there are more and more people who plant potted flowers at home, and more and more pot friends who raise orchids. Home potted orchids seem to have become an important part of our lives, even indispensable. Eager orchid cultivation itself is also a more comfortable way of life.

Now that autumn had entered, the weather was getting colder and colder, and sometimes one could even feel a hint of coldness. And orchids in autumn and winter season is also relatively easy to appear coke tip, rotten root phenomenon, then orchid coke tip, rotten root how to do? During this period, we need to do a good job in two aspects of conservation management, so as to ensure that the plant grows vigorously.

1. Increase air humidity

Orchid is a plant that likes wet and does not like dry environment, and the "wet" mentioned here does not only refer to the humidity of the pot soil, but more refers to the relative humidity of the air. Because in autumn and winter, the air humidity in many places is relatively low, and orchids do not like the dry air growth environment. Therefore, orchids in such an environment for a long time, it is easy to appear sharp phenomenon.

In order to improve or avoid this situation, it is generally necessary to maintain the air humidity in the potted orchid growth environment at about 70%. And the way to improve the humidity of the air is also very simple, usually we only need to put a few pots of water on the indoor floor, or put a wet blanket under the flower rack where orchids are placed. Of course, you can also use a humidifier to spray inside the space.

This can not only improve the air humidity in the environment, but also prevent the phenomenon of excessive indoor temperature, achieve the effect of cooling, and make the ambient temperature and humidity more suitable for the growth of orchids. Indoor temperature is generally maintained at about 25°C, which is more conducive to the free expansion of orchid stems and leaves.

Second, reduce the humidity of the basin soil

If we maintain orchids in indoor environment due to excessive watering, coupled with poor ventilation conditions resulting in poor air circulation, insufficient light, when the water is not consumed in time, the orchid plant is more prone to rotten roots. At this time, we have to strengthen ventilation, increase light, but also need to timely discharge excess water in the orchid basin or neutralize it.

If the excess water cannot be eliminated smoothly in a short time, we can use some matrix with good water absorption to add to the orchid pot and simply mix it with wet soil. Common matrix with good water absorption effect mainly includes pearlite, bluestone, wind fossil, pine needle and so on. Of course, at the same time, we also need to adjust the watering management in time to avoid similar situations again and ensure that the pot soil is not dry or wet.
