Longan is a kind of fruit with high nutritional value and good taste, which can not only be eaten fresh, but also can be dried into dry products, which is very large in the market of our country. Now the market demand of longan is also rising, so the planting area is also expanding. If you want to expand the acreage, then reproduction is very important. Today, the editor brings you the grafting breeding technology of longan. Let's take a look at it.

1. Grafting time

The grafting time of longan should be determined according to the temperature. Generally, around March every year, when the temperature is stable at about 20 degrees, it is the best time for longan grafting. The time of grafting should not be too early and too late, and the temperature of grafting too early is lower. Longan plants have less metabolic work, less body fluid flow, have not fully awakened from the dormant period, and the survival rate of grafting is low. If the grafting is too late, the nutrition consumption of the scion is high, and the temperature is too high, which will also affect the survival rate of grafting.

2. Scion selection

First of all, we should choose a strong tree with high fruiting rate as the mother tree and choose the scion from the mother tree. The scion takes the branch tip of the upper part of the crown of the mother tree with a high number of axillary buds and no wound as the scion. After cutting off the tip of the branch, cut off all the leaves above, and then do a good job. Control the quantity and moisturize the branches to avoid losing the ability to germinate. Therefore, it is best to pick and pick the scion, and the preservation time should not exceed 7 days.

3. Rootstock selection

The choice of rootstocks is also very important, to the tree age of less than 10 years, choose 1-2 grade backbone branches as rootstocks. The diameter of the branch is kept at about 5-8 cm. Usually, the older the tree, the stronger the tree, and the larger the crown, the better the quality of the rootstock. Generally, the number of rootstocks is adjusted reasonably according to the tree age, about 3 in 4 years old and 4 in 7-8 years old. When selecting rootstocks, it is best to retain a certain amount of auxiliary branches and control them at about 1 per cent of the number of crown branches, so as to maintain the balance of water and fertilizer in the grafted trees.

4. Grafting height

Longan grafting is best dwarfed grafting, which is beneficial to operation and management. And it can improve the permeability of the field and promote the rapid growth of longan trees. Generally, fruit trees with a tree age of less than 5 years are grafted at a position of about 35 cm off the ground. The trees of 7-8 years are grafted at a distance of about 70 cm. The main purpose is to adjust the grafting height reasonably according to the age and trunk thickness of rootstocks.

5. Grafting method

At the time of grafting. Both the rootstock and the scion should have a flat pin surface to ensure that the scion is stable on the rootstock. The budding should be at a good angle to form a bevel, and then the straight pin surface should be cut to about 3 cm until it reaches the plane of the wood cambium. Then cut it about 10 centimeters above the bud eye, insert the bud tightly, and align it. After inserting, wrap the grafting membrane and seal it, but also make sure it is thin enough to ensure that the scion sprouts can break the membrane normally.

The above is a brief introduction of longan grafting technology. Longan propagation methods include grafting, seeds and other methods, mainly according to the local environment and their own planting habits to choose reasonably. That's all for today's introduction. This article is for reference only. I hope it can help you all.
