Desert rose, the flower shape is trumpet-shaped, very gorgeous, while the plant is relatively short, the trunk is stout and simple and vigorous, so it is a kind of flower plant with high ornamental value. However, many people only grow branches and leaves and do not blossom after planting it as a family pot. So what about desert roses with only leaves and no blossoms?

1. Soil

In terms of basin soil, desert rose has its own requirements, and usually requires basin soil to have good looseness and air permeability, so we need to take some special methods to operate when mixing soil. In order to prepare a high-quality basin environment, we can usually use perlite, vermiculite, cinder, plant ash, mixed according to a certain proportion, so that the preparation of soil will be more conducive to the growth of desert roses.

Second, lighting

Desert rose, known from its name, is a kind of plant that likes light, so it should be allowed to bask in the sun and is usually placed in a place where it can fully receive sunlight for maintenance. After the plant gets enough light, it can better carry out photosynthesis to form nutrition, and when the vegetative growth accumulates to a certain extent, it will be transformed into reproductive growth, so flowers can bloom naturally.

Third, watering

Desert rose likes the dry basin soil environment, the original has the characteristics of drought resistance, but does not like moisture, nor water resistance, so watering must control the amount of water and the humidity in the basin soil. Generally wait until the basin soil is dry and then pour water through it, but generally water it in the morning and evening, and do not cause stagnant water in the basin. Especially in the midsummer season, high temperature at noon should be avoided, otherwise the water can easily evaporate, resulting in excessive local temperature difference and damage to the plant.

IV. Fertilization

Desert roses are fattening and have different needs for nutrients at different stages of life. Nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer should be applied in the growing period to balance nutrition; nitrogen fertilizer should be applied mainly before flowering stage, supplemented by phosphorus and potassium fertilizer; and phosphorus and potassium fertilizer should be applied in the bud period to promote flowering. Multi-element compound fertilizer can be applied after flowering to promote plant growth. Topdressing can generally be applied once a month, although desert roses like fertilizer, but also to control the amount and frequency, to avoid excessive fertilization caused by fertilizer damage.

Usually, as long as we master the above steps, desert roses can not only grow well, but also bloom smoothly as scheduled.
