Camellia not only has thick green leaves, but also has a beautiful and gorgeous flower pattern. It is a very suitable flower plant for potted plants. Although camellias look good, sometimes they are not so easy to grow, especially if we want them to blossom smoothly as scheduled, it often takes us a lot of thought.

Pot cultivation of camellias, the biggest difficulty is to let it produce high-quality flowers, sometimes even clearly see the plant grew a lot of buds, but finally can not see its blooming beauty. So why doesn't the bud of camellia blossom?

First, apply less nitrogen fertilizer

Winter and spring is the period when camellias blossom, so the demand for nutrients is relatively large. Many potted friends on a large number of fertilizer, thus ignoring the focus of the selected fertilizer. At this time, topdressing should reduce the intake of nitrogen, otherwise it is not only easy to cause excess nitrogen, but also easy to cause crazy growth of branches and leaves, thus affecting the differentiation of flower buds and budding, and finally lead to the phenomenon of growing buds without flowering.

In this case, it is not that we do not need topdressing, but we need to control the proportion of nitrogen fertilizer, mainly applying phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, such as fishbone meal, chicken eggshell and so on, or some organic fertilizer, which can promote pregnancy buds and avoid futile growth.

Second, control watering

Because the camellia is in the winter with low temperature during the budding period, the water evaporation is relatively small, so watering can not be carried out like other seasons, and watering needs to be controlled in time. Otherwise, too much watering will easily lead to stagnant water in the basin, resulting in moldy or even rotten roots of camellias.

And camellia is in the bud stage, the original pot soil should be kept slightly dry, which is more conducive to the development and maturity of plant buds. In this case, generally maintain 2-3 days to irrigate water, so that it will not be excessive, basin soil humidity is also appropriate.

Third, timely thinning of buds

Many potted friends hope that their potted camellias will be covered with buds, thinking that the more buds they have, the more beautiful they will be. In fact, this is a misunderstanding. Because if there are many buds, the nutrient consumption is large, and it is easy to form nutritional competition, which is not only easy to weaken the tree potential, but also makes some buds grow poorly, so the flowering effect can be imagined.

At this time, we not only can not let camellias hang buds all over the tree, but also need to control its number to reduce nutrient consumption and avoid the formation of nutritional competition. Therefore, Shulei is a very necessary measure to be taken. Generally, one or two buds can be kept on each flower branch, and all the other weak buds need to be thinned out. The retained buds will get more nutrients to promote flowering, so that camellias will not blossom without buds.
