How to remedy the rotten Root of White Palm in Water Culture
The ornamental value of potted white palm is very high, especially in flowering, white flowers and green leaves set off each other, not to mention how beautiful! And the white palm can not only be planted in the flowerpot soil culture, but also can be hydroponic culture, as long as the maintenance method is proper, it can also be raised white leaf green.
However, many people think that hydroponic white palms will not have rotten roots. In fact, whether it is soil culture or water culture, the most common problem is rotten roots. For soil culture, the most common reason for white palm rotten roots is excessive watering. Because the water usually contains green algae or other bacteria, these substances can easily inhibit or affect the normal growth of their roots, resulting in rotting roots.
If it is hydroponics, it will also face the same problem. However, the rotten roots of white palm in hydroponic culture are often caused by the destruction of the water environment due to the lack of frequent water change, or because the pollutants in the inner wall of the container are not cleaned every time, resulting in bacterial infection.
For the hydroponic white palm, the root system itself is soaked in water for a long time, so it is easy to distinguish the old root from the new root at first glance. However, if there is a wound in the root of hydroponic white palm, we should not use nutrient solution as far as possible during maintenance, so as not to change the water quality, which will lead to root rot.
Of course, if the hydroponic container is not clean, especially the inner wall of the container breeds a large number of bacteria, it will also lead to hydroponic white palm rotting root. Therefore, every time when changing water for hydroponic white palm, it is recommended to use potassium permanganate solution to sterilize and disinfect the container, or use boiled water to scald the inner wall of the container.
Usually in the maintenance process, in addition to frequent change of water, the original also needs to often clean up the residue on the inner wall of the container. Because these residues often carry a large number of bacteria, it is very easy to come into contact with the root system of white palm over a long period of time, thus causing the root rot phenomenon. Therefore, water culture white palm, usually must ensure that the water quality in the container is clean. As long as the root system is intact, a few drops of nutrient solution can be dropped each time the water is changed to promote its growth. So, how to remedy the rotten root of hydroponic white palm?
First of all, we need to take the plant out of the container, cut off the rotten roots in time, and soak the roots in carbendazim solution if necessary. Then prepare the new container and fill it with clean water, then re-insert the white palm of the root after trimming and slightly drying into the container to continue hydroponic culture.
However, if the old leaves at the lower end of the white palm are withered and wilted due to rotten roots, it is suggested that the "problematic" old leaves at the bottom of the plant should be cut off, which can reduce the burden on the roots of the plant and promote the germination and growth of new roots. Then we continue hydroponic culture according to the correct maintenance method.
If we do not have a spare container and need to use the original container to continue to grow white palms, then we need to pour out the damaged water in the container before use, and then clean up the pollutants in the inner wall of the container. then use potassium permanganate solution to clean the inner wall of the container, or directly scald it in boiling water to thoroughly sterilize and disinfect. Then re-use its hydroponic culture of white palm.
