Tiger Pilan is a kind of foliage plant which is very suitable for family potted cultivation, but many potted people only know that it is cultivated in soil but do not know that it is actually hydroponic. Even if some friends know about the aquaculture tiger skin orchid, they often encounter many bad phenomena such as blackening and decay of the roots.

In fact, hydroponic tiger skin orchid needs to master certain methods and skills, especially the problem of water quality, which should be strictly checked. Of course, it may also be due to other maintenance means of non-standard operation will also lead to a variety of symptoms. So, how can Hu Pilan be hydroponically cultured so that there will not be problems?

1. Hydroponics time

The hydroponic culture of tiger skin orchid is usually more stringent in time than that of many other flowers and plants. Many flowers and plants can be hydroponically cultured at a suitable temperature. The hydroponic culture of Hu Pilan is generally carried out after the plant enters the growth period from April to May every year.

This is mainly because during this period of time, regardless of temperature or humidity, it is often more suitable for hydroponics. In such a climate, hydroponic culture makes it easier for Tiger Pilan to survive and return to normal growth.

2. Root treatment

In addition to choosing a good time for hydroponic culture, the key to the success of hydroponic tiger skin orchid lies in the treatment of the root, which generally takes two steps of "cutting" and "washing". The "cutting" is divided into two stages:

The first scissors: take the tiger skin orchid out of the soil planting state, and then cut off the rotten, dry and damaged parts of the root. This process also coincides with the process of pruning the roots of Tiger Pilan.

The second cut is to cut off about 1 stroke 3 of the plant root, which can stimulate the plant to sprout new roots. After root trimming and root cutting, we still need to rinse in time.

Wash: is to wash the roots of the plant thoroughly, after all, we have to carry out hydroponic culture, the roots must be kept clean and tidy, without any impurities and pollutants. This can reduce germs or reduce the risk of bacterial infection.

However, cleaning the roots of Tiger Pilan should also be carried out in two steps, or twice:

After the first rinse, we also need to use carbendazim solution to sterilize and disinfect the roots. Generally soak for about 30 minutes, also for sterilization.

The second cleaning is carried out after soaking carbendazim and thoroughly cleaning the roots of the plant before preparing for hydroponic culture.

III. The process of hydroponics

Prepare a large glass container and clean it at the same time. Then fill the container with more than half of the bottle of water, and then put the tiger skin orchid with a bracket at the mouth of the container. But at the same time, it should be noted that the root system of the tiger skin orchid is submerged below the water level, and the root system of the other one is kept above the water level. In this way, the root system can exchange air under the water surface and on the water surface at the same time, thus avoiding the phenomenon of rotting roots.

If we soak all the roots of the whole plant in water, once the water quality changes and the roots can not breathe normally, it is easy to cause root rot or rot. Therefore, we need to leave part of the root system outside the water surface, so that Hu Pilan has a step-by-step adaptation process to the hydroponic environment, so as to avoid rotting roots.

It should be noted that the initial 2 weeks of hydroponic culture is the most prone to root rot, root blackening, rotten roots and other phenomena, so the water must be changed frequently, generally keep changing water every 2-3 days. However, if the water quality turns yellow one day after the change of water, it means that the roots have not been cleaned before. The roots need to be re-cleaned and then hydroponically cultured.
