Fugui bamboo is a kind of evergreen plant which is very suitable for water culture in indoor environment, but after buying it home for a period of time, many potted friends find that the plant either does not take root, or rotten roots soon after rooting, accompanied by yellow leaves at the same time. What's going on?

In fact, hydroponic culture of rich bamboo is relatively simple, and the above situation is usually caused by blind aquaculture because we do not grasp its growth habits. As long as we master the basic breeding methods, we can often let it take root quickly without rotten roots and yellow leaves. Next, the editor will share with you how to make the newly bought rich bamboo take root quickly without producing yellow leaves.

After buying back the rich bamboo plant, first open the package and select a suitable glass container for hydroponic culture according to the size and length of the plant. In general, we choose to use deeper glass containers, because rich bamboos usually grow taller and have longer stems. And using glass containers for water culture, it is also convenient for us to see clearly the rooting of the plant and the changes of water quality and water quantity.

If the rich bamboo we buy is indeed too tall and too long for hydroponic culture, we can cut off part of the trunk from the lower end until it is suitable to be raised in the container of our choice. However, a sterilized sharp knife must be used when trimming the lower end, and the lower end needs to be neatly cut into a bevel.

After cutting the lower trunk of Phyllostachys pubescens into an oblique mouth of about 45 degrees, the contact area between the slope and water can be increased, which is more conducive to the rapid germination of new roots, but also more conducive to plant absorption of nutrients and water, and the growth effect of the plant is naturally better.

However, because the lower end of the plant is slanted, original and has no roots, in order to reduce the burden on the roots, it is recommended to cut off some of the leaves that grow too luxuriantly on the plant. If yellow leaves are found, they need to be cut off in time. This also helps to promote the rapid growth of the root system, because the consumption of water and nutrients is less after the leaves are less, which naturally reduces the burden on the roots.

Next, pour 1/3 water into the glass bottle, and then insert the treated rich bamboo into it. Do not drop nutrient solution into the water at the beginning of the period, because there is a wound at the base, which is easy to cause decay. You can soak the rooting liquid at most to promote rooting. And change the water more frequently in the early stage, you can change the water every 3 days or so, and keep it for 7-10 days after taking root.

Usually, the plant should be placed in a ventilated and sunny place so that it can receive scattered light. When the plant takes root smoothly and begins to grow leaves, a few drops of nutrient solution can be dropped during the change of water to increase the nutrients in the water. As the rich bamboo is more shady, when the light is too strong, it should be shaded in time or placed in a cool place, so that it can receive scattered light. These are the fastest ways for rich bamboo to take root in water.
