The root is an important part of the stump bonsai. The distribution and shape of the root directly affect the ornamental value of the bonsai. Through planned cultivation, the root of the stump turns the basin, changes the soil, changes the basin year by year, arranges the root, grasps the extension direction of the root, and then continues to plant, gradually exposing the root to the surface of the soil. To create an environment that allows the roots to be molded, such as a high tube environment, the soil in the tube should be breathable, you can choose rough sand as soil, and pay attention to the use of large-grain perlite, vermiculite and small-grain orchid stone, which are all very breathable.

In nature, some old trees on the banks of the mountains, forests and streams are lost because the soil is impacted by water, and their roots are often exposed on the ground, curved like dragon claws, which is very peculiar. In order to make the tree stump bonsai also produce this form and improve the ornamental effect, the root lifting method can be used to achieve this purpose.

Through planned cultivation, the roots of tree stumps are turned over, changed soil and changed pots year by year. In this process, the roots are sorted out, the direction of root extension is mastered, and then they continue to be planted, gradually revealing the roots to the surface of the soil. The common methods of root lifting are as follows:

1. Root-revealing method: if you want the root system of the bonsai to be exposed to the bonsai, you can lift the root year by year when changing the basin, so that the lower new root is deeply rooted, and the proposed potted root system will be thinned and deleted appropriately, leaving it thin and thick, some flying claws, some outcrop drilling tail, such as Panlong into the hole, each show thousands of years.

2. Pile soil and expose roots: Tamarix species whose dry foundation is easy to sprout adventitious roots can be carved slightly on the pile stem in spring, soaked with wet bacon, and then exposed after 2-3 years of new root aging, and then according to the wish, the appearance of the root system will be artistically trimmed.

3, sleeve root method: some tree species that are difficult to sprout adventitious roots, such as pomegranate, can be peeled in a ring for a week and then dried in a ring on the dry position higher from the basin surface after the crown is trimmed and molded, and then peeled for a week with cola plastic bottle, broken sleeve, filled with bacon soil, and sometimes irrigated and moisturized. 2-3 years later, the canister is exposed to root, thinly deleted, the root appears on the root, the root is drilled down, the fine root flies next to the fine root, and each holds the terrain, such as dragon claws.

4. the method of exposing roots with rings: trees with soft roots and branches, such as ginkgo biloba, incense, Daphne, etc., can expose the elongated branches and roots, and then put the root tail into the soil to consolidate the root. And the elongated trunk and backbone branches also pierce the bow and form a ring, so that the branch ring and the root ring echo up and down, which is interesting.

5. The method of revealing the roots of crab claws: cut around the base of the shaped stump for a week, pile the soil and bury it dry, so that the germinating adventitious roots have a circle. After the new roots are lignified, ten of them are selected as the shape of crab claws, that is, two big ones are crab claws, and eight small roots are crab feet, which are raised in the shape of crab feet and then buried. This can not only renew the root system, but also increase the artistry of bonsai dew roots.

6. Stone dew root method: if you want to cultivate stone-attached bonsai, you can choose trees with unobvious main roots and elongated side roots as pile materials, such as Yingchun, Jiuli incense, etc., cut off the main roots, and the side roots are surrounded by an oblong natural ornamental stone, and then insert the root tail into the basin soil. Like a golden rooster holding an egg.

7. The method of piercing stone and exposing roots: first, a natural ornamental stone shaped by artificial drilling is used as the stone attached to the stump, and then a pile with elongated roots is selected to insert the root head from the perforation of the stone, and when exposed, it is coiled on the stone, and finally it is drilled into the basin soil to develop into a root system.

8. High exposed root method: if you want to cultivate a pot of exposed root bonsai, you can choose the long dragon-shaped root system of the same tree species as the grafting root, graft it on the upper end of the trunk, bend the grafting root around the trunk, and then cover the trunk with a long soil tube to maintain the wettability of the root graft, and the root tail is planted in the basin soil. After the root graft is healed, the sleeve and soil are removed, revealing the posture of Panlong around the column.

9, root art root exposure method: this is a kind of natural root art and bonsai combination of tree stump bonsai form, select underground roots such as ginseng or Polygonum multiflorum, as well as other pictographic root materials as pile materials, it will be exposed to the basin surface, the lower main root and fibrous root planted in the basin soil, after survival, and then germinate new roots on the pictographic root head to form a plant crown, in which the rattan root such as Polygonum multiflorum can stand.

10. hanging root exposure method: the banyan tree which can germinate aerial root is selected as the pile scene material and planted in a rectangular pot. After the branch crown is formed, it is covered with a rectangular glass cover and connected with the basin to increase the humidity in the cover. Promote the horizontal backbone branches of bonsai to sprout and hang aerial roots, and form new roots after entering the soil, and then aerial roots will become new tree trunks. A multi-dry jungle bonsai can be cultivated in a few years.

There are mainly three kinds of root extraction methods: deep pot high planting soil root extraction method, deep pot flat planting root extraction method and cylinder sand peeling root method.

The main results are as follows: 1. After the stump is planted in the deep pot, it will take 2-3 years, combined with turning the basin, to lift the root up year by year, so that the root can be exposed.

2. The method of flushing and root lifting in deep pot flat planting raises the kettle every time it is watered, makes the water rinse to the root, and gradually flushes away the soil of the root and makes the root exposed. Combined with turning the basin to improve the cultivation position of the root, the exposed part of the root is gradually increased, and its shape is gradually perfect.

3. After the root is grown, the stump is removed from the cylinder and planted in a shallow pot. When planting, the stump is properly renovated so that the root is exposed on the pot surface.
