Selaginella officinalis, also known as reviving grass, has very strong vitality, but its branches and leaves are evergreen and the plant type is low, so it is a good material for making bonsai. So, how to make cypress bonsai? Today, the editor would like to share with you the method of making Selaginella bonsai. I hope it will be helpful to you.

In order to make the Selaginella bonsai more beautiful, we first prepare a ceramic basin with an oblique mouth for it. Then, before potting the Selaginella, use scissors to trim it a little bit to make it more beautiful. The key point of pruning is to cut off branches and leaves that are not growing well or are rotten.

The next thing you need to do is to pot the pruned Selaginella plant into a ceramic basin and make it as a bonsai. However, before putting on the basin, it is recommended to spread a layer of large granular ceramsite at the bottom of the basin to improve the permeability of the basin and avoid stagnant water at the bottom of the basin.

After that, we put some mixed substrate of river sand and garden soil into the basin, and then plant the pruned Selaginella officinalis plant. But as a bonsai, the modeling effect is an aspect that we have to consider, so when we plant Selaginella officinalis, we should slightly make it appear to have some high and low feeling, so as to make the bonsai look more layered.

After filling the basin soil, we water it again and use a spray can to rinse the plant with small water. this can also clean the plant and make the leaves look cleaner and more beautiful. After that, you also need to use a sprinkler to rinse the basin surface to make it look neater.

After watering, we also need to do a simple modification of the potted noodles, after all, as a bonsai for viewing, the more beautiful the better. If we choose the ceramic basin itself modeling effect is good, then we do not need to add too much complex decoration, generally only need to reasonably put several larger paving stones in the basin. But if the flowerpot itself is relatively ordinary, then it is recommended to spread a layer of small grain stone on the basin surface.

After the above treatment, the bonsai made by us has basically been completed, and the bonsai also has a certain aesthetic effect. After that, we need to do a good job in the maintenance and management of Selaginella bonsai, which is generally placed in a relatively warm, shaded and ventilated place. Due to its tenacious vitality and resistance to barren, Selaginella officinalis only needs to be properly watered and sprayed every day to maintain humidity.
