Goose palm wood is a kind of ornamental plant which is evergreen all the year round, which has the characteristics of enduring shade and liking semi-shade, so it is easy to maintain and manage. Generally put it in a place with good indoor ventilation and bright light, or put it on the balcony, it can play a good role in embellishment. So, can goose palm wood make bonsai?
In fact, goose palm wood can be made as a bonsai, as long as you can master the production method, you can play a high-end feeling. However, as a bonsai, it is generally chosen to dwarf varieties and turn them into miniature bonsai, which looks very exquisite and beautiful.
Before making bonsai, we can prune and shape the potted plants, especially the root system. Mainly cut off the floating root and straight root, leaving a relatively stable horizontal octagonal root plate, and then plant the plant on a piece of plexiglass or ceramic tile. With the help of plexiglass or ceramic tiles to grow goose palm wood, mainly in order to make its root disk become more flat, so that it is more convenient for shallow pot planting in the future.
Since we plan to use goose palm wood as a miniature bonsai, in addition to dealing with the roots, we also need to properly control the leaves to keep them in limited space for a period of time, so that the leaves will naturally become smaller.
As the growth rate of goose palm wood is relatively fast, it will grow luxuriantly in about 3 months. It is replanted in a shallow basin after being removed from the basin. The caliber of the shallow basin commonly used is about 6 cm and the height is about 1 cm.
Next, remove the plexiglass or ceramic from the bottom of the plant, and trim the branches, leaves and roots properly. The main thing is to cut off the extra branches and leaves, especially the parts that hinder the modeling, as well as the floating roots and overgrown roots. Several aluminum wires are inserted at the outlet of the basin floor to facilitate the fixation of the plant.
After the plants, shallow pots, substrates and other materials are ready, we can re-pot them.
This is the goose palm wood after the pot, it already looks very exquisite. Since we trimmed the roots of goose palm wood and cultivated it on plexiglass or ceramics 3 months ago, it is very easy to put it on the pot at this time. After putting on the basin, the height of the basin has basically reached about 8 centimeters. Now it seems that goose palm wood miniature bonsai is so beautiful and exquisite! Not only the plant type is very short, but also the leaves become smaller accordingly, which is very harmonious and unified.
But that's not enough. we have one last step to do. That is to wrap tin foil around the tree trunk and fill some soil between the tin foil and the tree trunk. On the one hand, this is more conducive to goose palm firewood basin, on the other hand, it can also play a role in cultivating air roots. Generally 3-6 months later, we can consider whether it is necessary to remove the tin foil and soil used to wrap tree trunks according to the specific circumstances.
