The mosquito mother tree has dense branches and leaves, neat tree shape, thick green leaves, not withered in winter, and beautiful small safflower in spring. In addition, it has strong resistance, good dustproof and sound insulation effect, and is a greening and ornamental tree species in urban and industrial and mining areas. It is suitable to be planted on the roadside, on the front lawn and under the big trees, and it can also be used as a separate space or as a background for other flowers and trees.
If it is trimmed into a ball, it is suitable for opposite planting by the door or as a basic planting material. It can also be planted as a hedge and shelterbelt.
Seed collection: from September to October, the seed should be harvested in 2 to 3 batches because the ripening period is not very consistent. After harvest, bask in the sun for 1 to 2 days, then be transferred to the room and spread out in a dry and ventilated place with a thickness of 3 cm to 5 cm. 5 to 7 days after the capsule burst, you can see some of the seeds burst, and then gently turn and beat with a stick, most of the seeds will burst.
Soil preparation: choose a flat, convenient irrigation, good drainage and fertile loam nursery, turn 25 cm to 30 cm deep, make a bed after leveling, with a width of 1 m to 1.2 m. The soil can be treated with 20 kg of quicklime per mu to prevent seedling blight, quenching disease and underground pests. At the same time, 20 to 30 kilograms of compound fertilizer or 80 to 100 kilograms of calcium superphosphate are applied per mu as base fertilizer. Loosen and rake the topsoil slightly before sowing.
Sowing: the sowing time is in the first and middle of October. The amount of sowing is about 8 to 10 kilograms per mu. Sow evenly, covered with fine crushed fire ash and yellow soil, the thickness should not be too thick to see the seeds. The sowing time in early spring is around the Beginning of Spring in late January. Soaking the seeds in hot water from 50 ℃ to 60 ℃ for 24 hours before sowing can achieve the purpose of accelerating germination to a certain extent.
Diseases and insect pests: mosquito mother trees generally have fewer diseases and insect pests, but if planted in damp, dark and airtight places, they are easy to be harmed by shell insects. When sprouting, we should pay attention to guard against rats and birds.
Note:
1) daily maintenance according to habits, heavy water and fertilizer, high temperature and humidity, half-shade and half-sun management
2) after the new leaves grow to dark green, they can be shaped 3-4 times a year, and fertilizers should be applied before pruning.
3) do not lose water, otherwise the growth is poor, the light branch withered, the heavy pile withered.
