Lingxiao is one of the famous garden flowers. Its flowers are funnel-shaped, bright red or golden yellow and brightly colored. When the flowers bloom, the shoots still continue to spread and grow, and the new shoots bloom for the second time, so the flowering period is longer. Lingxiao flower is a vine, like climbing, is an excellent plant for greening in the courtyard, with thin bamboo support can be woven into a variety of patterns, very practical and beautiful. It can also be renovated into overhanging bonsai, or for decorating windowsill, drying platform and so on. At the same time, the flowers, stems, leaves and roots of Lingxiao can be used as medicine.

Lingxiao is native to central China and has been cultivated for more than 2000 years. Lingxiao is one of the outstanding vine flowers. Its stems and vines grow very fast in spring, aerial roots can firmly grasp the climbing objects, and bloom from June to September, with a funnel-shaped Corolla bell-shaped, orange-red on the outside, bright red on the inside, clusters of red flowers, vibrant in the air, bright and graceful against the green leaves.

[about Lingxiao Flower potted plants]

1. Lingxiao, if the seedlings are planted directly in the pot and grow slowly, it is best to plant them on the ground for three or four years. After the stems are long and thick, leave 40 centimeters of heavy cutting in early spring, move the soil into the pot, or buy sturdy plants in the flower market. There are three methods: one is to set up a frame on the basin and lead it to grow around the basin rack, which has the advantages of easy turning the basin and changing soil, easy movement and pruning, but the disadvantage is that the ventilation and light transmittance is slightly poor, and the inner chamber leaf is easy to be yellow.

2, is placed on the open balcony, pull its upward climb with a rope, but also let some stem vines naturally droop, up and down into one, elegant and unrestrained. The disadvantage is that it is difficult to turn the basin and change the soil, it takes two people to work together, and pruning is also more difficult, so we should pay attention to safety.

3. Potted plants are made into stump or cliff bonsai, which are placed on the balcony or on the viaduct.

[potted soil selection]

Potted Lingxiao should choose clay pots or buckets with good permeability and deep depth. It likes neutral or slightly acidic sandy loam with good fertility and loose drainage, and can be cultivated with the same amount of rotten leaf soil and vegetable garden topsoil.

On the basin or turn the basin every other year to change soil should be in early spring, and put a layer of broken charcoal block or hard plastic foam block at the bottom of the basin to facilitate ventilation and drainage to prevent rotting roots. Can not bare roots, to retain about 1 stroke 3 of the persistent soil, the root can not be in direct contact with the base fertilizer, the middle layer of plain soil.

[water and fertilizer management]

Lingxiao likes to be wet, slightly resistant to drought, but afraid of waterlogging. Therefore, the growing period should be often watered, and it is better to keep the basin soil moist and not waterlogged. From the defoliation in late autumn to the dormant period before sprouting in the following spring, the basin soil should be dry and slightly moist.

Lingxiao likes fertilizer, in addition to adding 50 ~ 100 grams of bone powder or nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizer as base fertilizer in the culture soil, and applying nitrogen-based fertilizer 10 to 15 days after germination to promote the growth of branches and leaves. Since May, it has been changed to apply phosphorus and potassium fertilizer to promote flower bud differentiation and bud differentiation, and 0.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution has been sprayed on the leaf surface every 7 to 10 days from June to promote its flowers to be big and colorful. Apply phosphorus and potassium fertilizer once or twice after flowering to facilitate overwintering. There is no fertilization in winter.

[pruning and breeding]

In early spring, the withered branches, thin and weak branches, over-dense branches and branches with poor growth parts should be cut off, and the over-long branches should be shrunk to promote the germination of robust lateral branches so as to lay the foundation for flowering. Cut the excessively long stems short after flowering.

Lingxiao has strong root sprouting and tillering ability, and seed plants sprout from the root every year. If it is not necessary to propagate separately, it should be cut off at any time so that the nutrition is concentrated on the main stem. If you want to propagate separately, you can cut off the seed plants with roots from the roots in the early spring of the following year and plant them separately. Can also be combined with early spring pruning, select the cut strong stem vine cuttings. It can also cut 15cm ~ 20cm cuttings of the angry roots in the rainy season.

[placement environment]

Lingxiao likes the sunny environment and tolerates half-shade, but the plants in the half-shade are not flourishing, the flowers are few and light, and they are placed in the courtyard with sufficient sunshine as far as possible, south or west balcony, and pay attention to good ventilation. do not place it in an enclosed balcony or an open northward balcony.

Note:

Light and temperature: like sufficient light, not tolerant to shade, suitable for growth temperature of 20-25 degrees.

Culture medium: loose requirements for soil, either sandy or clay loam.

Watering: flowering to maintain a certain temperature, watering to dry and wet as the principle, basin soil should not be too dry, should not be too wet.

Fertilization: like fertilizer, generally apply liquid fertilizer once or twice a month after sprouting in spring

Pruning: before the plant sprouts, the branches should be pruned, cutting off the thin and weak branches, over-dense branches, overlapping branches and dry and withered branches, so that the branches are evenly distributed, ventilated and transparent, and the flowers are luxuriant. Lingxiao peanut needs to set up a branch frame for a long time to make the branches climb and grow on it.

Pest control: Lingxiao flower has fewer diseases and insect pests. During the period of high temperature and humidity, the shoots are vulnerable to aphids, and 40% dimethoate can be sprayed immediately to control them.

Tips: Lingxiahua is a woody plant. In order to facilitate maintenance and management, it is best to buy it after falling leaves in autumn and before sprouting in spring.
