Dahlia, also known as Dahlia, Tianzhu peony, sweet potato flower, marble, passionflower and chrysanthemum, is a perennial herb of Compositae. The chrysanthemum is in full bloom, but the dahlia is different. it blossoms one after another in spring and summer, blossoms again after summer, and withered when Frosts Descent. Its flower shape is similar to the peony of the country, the color is magnificent and colorful, lovable.

Dahlia is the national flower of Mexico, the provincial flower of Jilin Province and the city flower of Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. The colorful Dahlia symbolizes generosity, richness and good fortune. Its footprint has spread all over the world and has become a frequent visitor in the garden and a world-famous ornamental flower.

The bulb root of Dahlia is like sweet potato, but its germination form is different from that of sweet potato. It will only germinate from the place where Reed head is linked last year. Sweet potato like sweet potato will not germinate. If it is just one piece, it can be cultivated directly. If it is several pieces, do not rush to split the plant, first bury it in wet soil to promote sprouting. When the bud comes out, it will be divided according to the situation of the bud. When planted in the soil, there is 3-5 cm soil on the bud. It would have blossomed that year. Of course, potted plants are not as good as ground ones.

Planting Dahlia tubers requires the preparation of planting caves 5-6 inches deep. If you are going to stand up a pile to support the dahlia, you should do it now, otherwise the pile will hurt the tuber later. Firmly set up a stake at the edge of the tuber planting hole, which is 4-5 feet above the ground.

Some people find that using tomato stents can support dahlias well, but tomato scaffolds contain steel wire guns, so you must place tomato stents when you see tubers to avoid harming them. Tomato scaffolds are usually only suitable for small plants. The planting hole is on one or both sides of the pile or tomato bracket, and the tuber is placed flat in the cave along the side of the pile, with the new buds facing up.

If the tuber has grown new buds of 1 inch or more, place them carefully so as not to hurt the fragile buds. In any case, if this does happen, it is easy to do, do not be disappointed, the damaged bud base will have a lot of new bud points, they will continue to grow, but the plant growth will be relatively delayed. Do not put chemical fertilizer into the planting hole, it will hurt the new roots.

The tubers are covered with 4-5 inches of soil. Some horticultural growers have found that providing some support to the stems of dahlias can help plants grow, but this is not enough in windy areas. Hang a label on the pole so you know what kind of plant is growing.
