The lotus flower is one of the top ten famous flowers in China because of its colorful, beautiful and elegant flowers. It comes out of the mud but not stained, Zhuo Qinglian but not demon temperament makes the lotus become the embodiment of truth, goodness and beauty in people's minds, but also the lofty and auspicious "holy flower" in Buddhism.

Among them, there is a family of mini lotus in the lotus family, which is tall, round leaves and thin lotus roots. The flowers are as big as money and can be seen in a bowl. The ancients called them "bowl lotus".

Bowl lotus, also known as bowl lotus, pot lotus, is planted in the bowl of lotus, specially for Chen on several tables in the room, in order to beautify the living environment. Many flower friends start to plant bowl lotus seeds from bowl lotus seeds, because it is difficult to bloom that year without experience. Today, the editor will tell you how to grow bowl lotus seeds.

First, the essentials of breeding bowl lotus:

1. Sowing time: Lotus seeds have no dormancy period. As long as the water temperature is kept above 16 ℃, the seeds can be sown in four seasons. Under the conditions of suitable temperature and light, it takes 50-60 days from sowing to flowering in spring and 60-80 days in autumn.

2. Seed treatment: the shell of the lotus seed is hard and dense, and the lotus seed must be artificially broken before soaking. There is a small protruding tip on one end of the lotus seed and a small concave spot on the other. Grind the small concave end on the rough cement floor or make a small cut with tiger pliers. Be careful not to pinch the embryo or remove the shell.

3. Soaking seeds to promote germination: the summer water temperature of 20 ℃-30 ℃ is very suitable for lotus seed germination, depending on how much water is filled in bowls or pots to soak the seeds. Put it indoors and change the water twice a day. It can sprout within a week. After sprouting, put it in the sunny place to strengthen the light and can not lack of water. Fine roots and 2-3 young lotus leaves grow after 2 weeks. When the leaves are in the shape of money, the roots can be divided.

4. Seedling transplanting: choose 18cm~30cm pottery pot without bottom hole or plastic flowerpot, add half a pot of pastoral soil or river and pond mud without chemical pollution, soak in water two weeks in advance, do not apply fertilizer. When transplanting, press the fine roots of the small lotus seedlings into the mud, one in each pot, and add appropriate amount of water after transplanting, so that the small lotus leaves are not submerged by water.

5. Autumn and winter management: after transplanting for 2-3 weeks, when the leaves turn yellow, a small amount of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium ternary compound fertilizer can be applied and dilute fertilizer is applied frequently. The lotus likes warmth and light, but is not tolerant of darkness. When the external temperature is lower than 16 ℃, the growth is slow and should be moved to the sunlight greenhouse.

2. Steps / process of planting bowl lotus

1. First of all, learn to distinguish between the two ends of the lotus seeds.

The seed coat of lotus seed is very thick, in order to germinate smoothly, simple treatment is needed. First of all, please distinguish between the two ends of the bowl lotus seed, one end is a small bulge, one end is a small concave point, to deal with the concave end.

2. Second: deal with one end of the concave point

In general, there are several ways to deal with one end of a concave spot, and the conventional methods are:

1. Grind off the seed coat on the cement floor

2. Break it with pliers

3. Cut off a small seed coat with a sharp knife.

You can also drill a small hole with an awl in the concave, soak in the water for a period of time and cut off a small fast seed coat with scissors! Be careful not to drill too deep, do not drill into the benevolence inside!

3. Then: soak the treated seeds in water

Soak the treated seeds in a small box or plate or any container.

Note:

1. If the temperature is low, you can use an insulation cup with 30 degrees warm water. Indoor and outdoor bubbles are fine if the temperature is above 20 degrees.

2. Change the water twice a day. I usually change it once in the morning and once in the evening.

3. The water should be flooded beyond the depth of the seed.

4. If the temperature is high, it will sprout quickly. Generally above 20 degrees, sprouting from 3 days to a week.

Soaked lotus seeds, the hard skin can be easily peeled off by hand, peeling off no more than 1/3 of the seed skin is conducive to the seed budding as soon as possible.

Continue to soak after peeling.

On the fifth day, I saw the green bud.

From the seventh day on, I put it in the sun every day. In addition, pots for planting lotus flowers are prepared, filled with soil, soaked with water and ready. Nine days later, the first floating leaf was about to unfold and the second leaf came out. On the tenth day, the first floating leaf unfolded and the lotus seed began to take root.

Note:

Do not pinch or shell the seed when dealing with the seed. When soaking the seed to accelerate germination, the water temperature had better be kept between 20-40 degrees. If the water temperature is higher than 40 degrees, the seeds germinate rapidly on the first day, but the growth is inhibited later. when the water temperature is lower than 20 degrees, the seeds germinate and grow too slowly.

When soaking seeds to promote germination, it is necessary to remove the seeds that cannot germinate in time, which will germinate within 7 days. Be sure to give the lotus plenty of sunshine!

Bowl lotus is a perennial plant, which will bear lotus roots (non-edible lotus roots). After entering the mud, a bowl of lotus can grow a large basin and send out a lot of leaves, so it is enough to plant 1-3 lotus seedlings in a container with a diameter of 30 centimeters. More parents who sprout can divide pots or use containers with larger diameters or share lotus seedlings with friends.
