Planting and cultivation techniques of starry flowers
Star flowers, also known as five-star flowers, have excellent height, plant shape and color, and can be matched with petunia or peacock grass to produce summer colors. It is heat-resistant and drought-resistant, can overcome extreme heat and humidity, and continues to blossom until frost. A blossoming five-pointed star-shaped florets scattered in the large flowers, forming a strong color impact. It continues to grow throughout the summer, filling in colors for large scenic spots. The flower clusters covered the plants from the beginning of summer until the first arrival of Frosts Descent, which was dizzying.
In the hot and dry climate in summer, the starry flowers can still show perfect plant shape and bright flowers. So, how to plant potted starry flowers? Let's follow the editor to take a look at the planting method of potted star flowers.
1. Reproduction
Star flowers are often sown by cultivating hole-dish seedlings. The commonly used sowing medium is rich in humus, good drainage and aseptic medium. The PH value is 6.56.8 and the EC value is 0.75ms/cm.
2. Media
During the seedling period, the cultivation medium uses sterile peat soil with slightly fertilizer and good drainage, and the PH value is 6.5-6.8; the upper basin medium uses a cultivation substrate with loose, good drainage and air permeability, and the clay content is 10% to 20%. Coconut fiber, perlite and other substances can be added appropriately. Appropriate fertilization is required to contain iron chelates and micronutrient elements in the matrix, and the pH value is 5.8 to 7.5.
3. Upper basin
It can be transplanted into the pot 7-9 weeks after sowing, and the suitable diameter of the flowerpot is 10-15cm. Before potting, appropriate fertilization should be applied to make the plant grow strongly so as to reduce the impact on the plant.
4. Watering
The seedlings grow well in the humid environment, so keep the medium moist as far as possible in the seedling stage. In order to avoid spraying the plant in a state of high humidity, the whole plant was supplied with water at the seedling stage, and the water was applied in the way of soaking basin. During the growth period of starry flowers, when the air relative humidity is low, the probability of disease will be greatly reduced.
5. Fertilization
Often apply "chlorophyllin" 800-1000 times aqueous solution, once every 7-10 days to promote leaf extension; after the middle growth, apply 15-30-15 (N:P:K) formula of "flowering essence 800-1000 times aqueous solution, once every 7-10 days, to promote flower bud differentiation and growth; fertilize during flowering, cut off the residual flowers after flowering, can sprout and blossom again, and planting in East China needs greenhouse overwintering.
6. Pruning
After planting, the plant can pick the heart once when it has 3-4 pairs of true leaves, so as to make the branches neat and blossom consistent. Generally, you can pick the heart only once. If the flowering is expected to be too early, you can pick the heart twice. Each picking of the heart will delay flowering for 10-12 days. Pay attention to pruning during the growing period to make the crown symmetrical, and the old plants more than three years old should be renewed by cutting.
