Generally speaking, the rose stakes we dig from the wild are strangely shaped, and when we cultivate them into flowerpots, many roots are usually exposed on the basin surface, because the root system is too long and too developed. Even if we use a deeper gallon basin, its roots can still reach the bottom of the basin.

And the rose stump generally does not have many whisker roots, fine roots, lateral roots, mostly strong straight roots. Therefore, it is difficult to survive by transplanting it into a flowerpot. If you want it to survive smoothly, you usually need to master three key aspects:

I. Scientific use of rooting agents

As the rose stump generally does not have lateral roots, it is difficult to survive only by relying on the old roots. Therefore, we must soak it with rooting agent before putting it on the pot. And don't buy a rooting agent that is too cheap, buy a better one. Cheap ones cost 1-2 yuan a small bottle, and good ones cost 8-10 yuan a small bottle.

And we use the old root to soak the rooting agent for a long time, the original can not simply soak. The concentration of rooting liquid should also be controlled well. Generally, it is more appropriate to drop 10 drops of rooting agent into every 500 ml of clear water. After mixing the solution well, soak the old root of the rose pile in it, which usually takes 20-30 minutes to cultivate.

And before planting, the substrate needs to be sterilized in advance, potassium permanganate, chlorpromazine or ground love can be used, and then planted in the pot. If the pile is exposed in the air, it is recommended to cover it with a bag, or spray a transpiration inhibitor, and then keep the pot in the shade and wait for germination.

Second, apply water-soluble fertilizer in time

For the old pile, the activity of its own plant is not enough, so once the leaves are raised, we need to fertilize them in time. However, fertilizing can not use ordinary compound fertilizer, because the fertility of compound fertilizer is relatively strong, it is easy to cause root burning. It is generally recommended to use water-soluble fertilizer to lower the concentration and dilute it according to 1500-2000 times of water.

3. Prevention of root nodules of old piles

As the old pile is easy to grow root nodules, so once the pile grows root nodules, not to mention grafted rose to cultivate bonsai, even growth will be a problem. Therefore, we also need to use some beneficial microbial preparations for the old pile to prevent or inhibit the growth of root nodules.

However, the use of this microbial preparation also needs to control the concentration and irrigate the pile once a month after being diluted with water in a scientific proportion. In this way, there will be more beneficial microorganisms in the basin soil, and these beneficial microorganisms will inhibit the growth of rhizobia or Agrobacterium tumefaciens, thus reducing the number of nodules.

If we raise the old rose stump well, when it can be used as a rootstock, we can graft rose at the right time. The above is the process of planting and cultivating rootstocks before grafting rose that Xiaobian shared with you.
