Changing water is not only an important part of the daily management of koi, but also the key to the successful culture of koi, so there is a saying that "koi raise water first".

Pay attention to the following three points when changing water:

First, the method should be correct:

When draining with a siphon, hold on to the wall of the pipe. Do not let the young koi be sucked by the pipe because of the strong suction when draining the water.

The branches of aquatic plants are tender and easy to break, so avoid them when draining water. In addition, be careful not to attract sand, dead leaves of water plants and other things, so as not to plug the rubber hose.

When injecting water, the action should be light, and the water should not wash into the fish, so as not to cause koi to catch cold and get injured. Water should be slowly added along the cylinder wall.

Second, timely measures should be taken:

If the water quality stinks, blackens or Jintou appears, the water needs to be changed thoroughly.

1 ~ 2 days after the thorough change of water, the koi has not fully adapted to the new environment, and there is generally a phenomenon of loss of appetite. At this time, it is necessary to reduce the amount of bait, or even stop eating for 1 day. Otherwise, the surplus of fish and insects will cause the deterioration of water quality and make the koi get sick and die.

Third, the temperature difference should be paid attention to:

The treated water must be used to change the water, and the maximum temperature difference between the treated water and the old water is no more than 2 ℃ ~ 3 ℃. The temperature difference is too large, which can easily make the young koi die.
