How to keep the orchid more exuberant

How to grow more vigorous: light, watering, fertilization, pruning

Light--spider orchid likes semi-shade environment, spring and autumn should avoid strong sunlight direct sun, summer sunshine is particularly strong, only see some oblique light in the morning and evening, during the day need to cover 50%-70% of the sun, otherwise it will make the leaf tip dry, especially the flower variety, more afraid of strong sunlight, Phnom Penh spider orchid in the weak light will grow more beautiful, yellow Phnom Penh more obvious, leaves more shiny. But winter should make it see more sunshine, in order to keep the leaves tender green. Family potted plants should be placed in the south window, otherwise the leaves will lose luster and even wither. When conditions permit, it is better to rotate the flowerpot about 15° to a fixed direction every week to ensure that the hanging orchid droops to the same extent.

Watering--Chlorophytum like wet environment, pot soil easy to keep wet often. Summer watering should be sufficient, around noon and evening should also spray water on the branches and leaves, timely cleaning of dust on the leaves, in case the leaves dry up. However, the fleshy roots of spider plants can store a lot of water, so they have strong drought resistance, and they will not die without watering for several days. Winter 5℃ below, less watering, pot soil not too wet, otherwise the leaves will easily yellow.

Fertilization-Chlorophytum is a relatively fertile foliage plant. If the fertilizer and water are insufficient, it is easy to scorch the head and senescence, and the leaves are yellow and lose ornamental value. From late spring to early autumn, organic fertilizer solution can be applied once every 7-10 days, but for flower varieties such as Phnom Penh and Jinxin, nitrogen fertilizer should be applied less, so as not to lighten or even disappear the color of flowers and leaves, affecting the appearance. Can be appropriate application of bone meal, eggshell and other organic fertilizer retting system, to be fully fermented, take the right amount of diluent, every 10-15 days irrigation once, can make flowers and leaves bright.

Pruning--cut off yellow leaves at any time. May turn over the basin once a year in March, cuts off the old root, the rotten root and the redundant fibrous root. Cutting off some of the old leaves in the early and middle of May will promote the germination of more new leaves and small spider plants.
