On the 13th, the National Certification Foundation (TAF) held a standardized training course on "excellent Laboratory Operation (GLP)". The number of participants doubled over previous years, reaching a scale of 100 people. It is speculated that it was affected by the laws and regulations that the inspection units of pesticide tests announced by the Prevention and Inspection Bureau in July last year needed to register for GLP. There are many pesticide merchants and laboratories engaged in certification business at the scene, hoping to further understand the norms and facilitate applications.

Pan Yifang, head of the Biomedical Section of the second Division of TAF Laboratory Certification, said that the system developed by the GLP for the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) to provide members with domestic data analysis and sharing of research results is mainly to ensure that the processes and experimental results operated by non-clinical research institutes in the laboratory are not falsified and credible, so that the competent authorities can use the obtained data for product safety assessment. Although the domestic GLP certification system has been promoted for more than 10 years, in the part of pesticide audit, because laboratories are not required to comply with GLP standards before being accepted, there are not many laboratories that meet GLP certification. However, affected by the announcement of laws and regulations of the Prevention and Inspection Bureau in July last year, the number of laboratories applying for GLP certification increased significantly at the end of last year. As of February, there were 14 qualified pesticide test laboratories in China.

Feng Haidong, director of the Prevention and Inspection Bureau, said that in 1998, the GLP specification had been included in the laboratory operation standards for pesticide physicochemical and toxicological tests, but it was determined by the operators themselves. The test units that carried out pesticide physicochemical tests, toxicity tests and pesticide residue tests in July last year, no matter domestic or foreign units, must first obtain the GLP qualification registered by TAF. Will accept the report of the laboratory, safety assessment and other measures. At present, most countries that adopt the GLP specification are in this way, so the promotion of this specification is also in line with international standards.

Pan Yifang added that in the past, when the number of GLP courses was between 50 and 60, the number of applicants this time reached 100, which was also unexpected. This time, the majority of participants were pesticide manufacturers, because pesticide traders considered trade secrets and set up their own laboratories, so as soon as the regulations were issued, the number of participants increased significantly.

GLP has clear specifications from the responsibilities of researchers, laboratory instruments and equipment, test substances and the operating procedures of the whole test. TAF will actually go to the laboratory to check, and then the audit committee will decide whether to pass it or not. After passing, the login will be valid for 2 years. Pan Yifang said that for those who do not pass, there will be another two months for improvement, so it will take about six months to get results; in addition, the approved manufacturers and reports will also be listed as the tracking targets of TAF. If the Prevention and Inspection Bureau finds that there is something wrong with the contents of the report, it will also entrust TAF to conduct spot checks at the laboratory, or directly attend the audit to ensure that the laboratory's experimental process is in line with the specifications.
