Choosing an ideal place for moss is not particularly picky, but it is best to choose a more ideal site when planting. Most of them like water and indirect light best (slightly shaded). It is especially good to use tall trees and the ground under plants. If the only place you can use the light is strong, don't worry too much; your moss still has the ability to grow well.

Moss helps to drain your yard in areas where it is easy to accumulate water in heavy rain. Planting it instead of grass can help the soil drain.

Moss has no root system, so it can easily grow on stony soil that grass cannot cover.

Prepare the planting site if you are planting in the soil, test the pH value of the soil and make the necessary changes; moss likes acidic soil with an pH value between 5 and 5.5. Wherever you plan to plant moss, get rid of other plants and weeds. If you plant in the soil or on a flat surface, make sure the surface is smooth and flat. Unlike grass, moss reveals small turf and holes in the ground or area where it is planted.

Plant moss using a hose or sprinkler to fully irrigate the area where you plan to grow moss. Then cover each selected piece of moss tightly over that area with your hand. Press it into the soil or a small piece of rock to put it in place and not let it move.

Watering moss the moss planted for the first time should be watered every day for 2 to 3 weeks. This will help it grow and remain in that position. It is better to use a sprayer or hose with a very fine nozzle to make the spray than to flush directly, which may harm plants.

If the moss appears dark green or patchy over time, it may be overwatered.

You can reduce the amount of water after a month or so, but you must keep the moss as wet as possible.
