Cucumber is one of the common vegetables, also known as cucumber in some areas, cultivated in most parts of our country. Common as an out-of-season vegetable in greenhouses or greenhouse cultivation, today we will learn how to grow cucumbers, how to deal with the actual problems of the planting process.

1. Land selection and preparation

Select flat land with suitable acidity and alkalinity, deep soil, good drainage and permeability, rich in organic matter for planting, and do not continuously crop with the same kind or plant together. It is best to plant with high ridge and deep groove, generally more than 20 cm deep, 1 to 1.5 meters wide, facing north to south, and plant spacing of more than 20 cm.

II. Sowing seedlings

It is best to sow before March in early spring. In spring, it is generally planted with plastic film after germination. First, stir with hot water of 50 to 60 degrees for about 10 to 15 minutes to kill bacteria. Then use warm water of about 30 degrees for about 5 hours, pick it up and drain the water, scrub the surface dust, etc., and finally put it into an incubator of 25 degrees for germination. During this period, spray water every one or two hours to keep warm and moisturize, and germinate about one day later. Summer cultivation is mostly between June and August, generally using bubble seed direct seeding. When the seedlings grow to two true leaves, they can be transplanted. Generally, in the afternoon of a sunny day, after watering, the seedlings should be taken out. Be careful not to bruise the roots and transplant them with soil as much as possible.

III. Fertilizer and water management

Before planting, about 60% of the base fertilizer is applied in the whole year. The base fertilizer is generally decomposed farm organic fertilizer, which is generally applied when the soil is deeply cultivated. About one thousand to two thousand catties per mu, add a small amount of calcium superphosphate together. After transplanting, when it grows to three true leaves, it can be topdressed, usually with a small amount of diluted fertilizer. Dressing once every other week, mainly nitrogen fertilizer. Cultivate soil, dig ground and topdressing urea once when cucumber tendrils appear, cultivate soil and topdressing once after cucumber harvest for the second time, apply compound fertilizer of about 100 jin per mu, high temperature in summer, rapid growth, accelerated aging, large rainfall, resulting in nutrient loss, generally topdressing as soon as possible.

Spring cucumber seedlings can be kept moist to avoid the occurrence of damping-off disease. It needs a lot of water during flowering and fruiting, and sprays water once a day in the afternoon on a sunny day. Usually, depending on the weather and soil moisture, it is decided whether to water or not. Water should be watered 3 to 4 times a day in case of drought.

Cucumber planting is mainly fertilizer and water management measures, fertilizer is the basis to ensure growth, seedling is the premise of yield quality and seedling growth, so it is very important to do a good job in technical management during cucumber cultivation.
