At the turn of spring and summer every year, copper algae follow the ocean currents down South Korea and China, and recently it has become entangled with floating garbage on the north coast, causing damage. Yeliu National Scenic Area and Shuiwei Fishing Port are the most seriously affected, with 30 tons and 20 tons of algae and garbage removed from each of them. Among them, Yeliu Geopark garbage is a lot of plastic products from neighboring countries. The problem of garbage removal from the sea has long been caused by the different powers and responsibilities of the sea and land authorities, which cannot be effectively and immediately dealt with. Local people expect the Marine Conservation Department to have a better treatment plan in the future.

Jinshan District Fishery Association staff Jiang Xinyu 30 said, A few days ago received Shuiwei fishing port garrison personnel informed that there are drifters into the fishing port, Immediately asked the industry to carry out cleaning, A total of 20 tons of floating garbage and copper algae. At that time, there were no fishing boats to go out to sea, otherwise copper algae might have been mixed into the engine and affected the safety of the ship. In the past, copper algae have also been recorded drifting into nearby waters with current, and there was discussion about whether to use a current barrier to intercept them. Later, due to considerations of ship safety, they did not continue.

Li Mao-chuan, director of the North Coast and Kuanyinshan National Scenic Area Management Division, says that the lack of water and death of copper algae after landing not only produces a foul odor, but also causes problems in disposing of it. In addition, many of the garbage removed from the Yeliu National Scenic Area is special bottles, most of which are Korean and simplified letters. It is speculated that garbage from other countries has drifted to Taiwan's north coast with the current, indicating that the situation of garbage floating in the sea is serious.

Li Maoquan further pointed out that this wave of copper algae and marine floating garbage incident was notified by Guo Qinglin, director of Jinshan Wanli Service Office of Huang Guochang's National Assembly Office, that the Yeliu Geopark was in serious condition. On the afternoon of 26 th, the removal operation was carried out, and a total of 30 tons of copper algae and garbage were removed. At present, there is no obvious accumulation of copper algae along the coast of Yehliu National Park. The operation of garbage removal from the sea will be carried out in conjunction with the beach cleaning activities of civil society organizations and county government environmental protection bureaus.

Guo Qinglin, director of Jinshan Wanli Service Office of Huang Guochang Congress Office, said that the impact area of copper algae and floating garbage on the northern coast of Bohai Sea is quite large, extending to about 30 kilometers along the coast of Jinshan Wanli. If found, immediately issue a document to the land administration and management units that may be under its jurisdiction, such as fishing port, No.2 nuclear plant, North coast and Guanyin Mountain National Scenic Area, Marine Conservation Department, so that garbage can be intercepted in time at sea, so as to avoid flowing into reefs and wave-absorbing blocks. It is difficult to deal with and affect the intertidal ecology.

Mr Kwok pointed out that the existing mechanism of the Marine Protection Department was to reward fishermen for picking up floating garbage and algae, to monitor floating garbage hot spots with the Coast Guard, and to move towards international cooperation in monitoring floating garbage. However, there is little incentive for the incentive mechanism and fishermen may not follow suit. Therefore, I hope that the Marine Protection Department will not only monitor but also link up the management authorities at sea and on shore to establish a mechanism for immediate reporting and disposal, so that floating objects can be disposed of at sea without endangering the landscape and marine ecology on shore.
