Cultivation methods and matters needing attention of Rhododendron how to raise Azalea
At the end of March in Yangchun, two rhododendron stumps purchased last year blossomed in potted cuckoos, a pot of pink and a pot of peach blossoms. Although there are only branches and flowers, lack of a little green leaves, but also have a different charm. How do you grow azaleas? The following is a summary of my cultivation methods and matters needing attention for the conservation of azaleas in the past two years, as follows, for you to share.
Cultivation methods and matters needing attention of Rhododendron how to raise Azalea
I. Culture methods of azaleas
1. Azalea like cool, avoid heat, like half shade, avoid hot sun, like moisture, avoid dry, acid soil, avoid alkaline soil, like light soil, avoid sticky heavy soil, like good drainage, avoid waterlogging. Rhododendron prefers acidity (pH value 4.5-5.5), loose, well-drained soil. Avoid calcareous alkaline soil, avoid clayey soil. Formula reference: 6 parts of rotten leaf soil, 2 parts of peat soil and 2 parts of river sand are mixed or used pine needle soil.
2. Put the azaleas in a cool and ventilated place after summer, shade with a sunshade net in hot summer, and open the curtains before 8: 00 in the morning and after 5: 00 in the afternoon. As the cuckoo belongs to semi-negative flowers and trees, the young leaves are easy to burn in the hot sun. If it is exposed to strong light for a long time in summer, the branches and leaves will be withered and yellow, the growth will stagnate, and the whole plant will die in serious cases.
3. The daylight intensity in autumn is gradually relaxed, the azaleas can see more sunshine before 9: 00 in the morning and after 5: 00 in the afternoon, and put in the sunny place at the end of autumn to promote flower bud differentiation. The cuckoo is not hardy, so it should be moved indoors between Cold Dew and Frosts Descent and placed in a sunny place. At the beginning of entering the room, you should pay attention to opening the windows and doors for ventilation. If it is placed in the shade for a long time, it is easy to drop buds.
4. The suitable room temperature in winter is about 10 ℃. The room temperature of most varieties is not less than 5 ℃, but the cuckoo is afraid of cold, and the overwintering room temperature should not be lower than 8 ℃. If the room temperature is too high in winter, the metabolism is enhanced and nutrients are consumed, which is not conducive to the growth and development of the following year.
5. Watering, I have been using the water from the rockery pond. The soil is neither dry nor watered, nor too dry, for too many leaves will wilt. Winter and summer are different. Flowering period should not be more watering, too much easy to drop buds and early thanks; spring and autumn wind is dry, must be sufficient. Pay attention to spraying the leaf surface and the ground to maintain a certain degree of humidity. During the cuckoo growing period, alum fertilizer and water are generally applied every 10-15 days, or 0.1% rame0.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution can be used for foliar spraying.
Matters needing attention in the culture of rhododendron
1. The roots of azaleas are as thin as hair, and there are few thick roots, so they are afraid of dry and wet, especially heavy fertilizer. If you water too much, the root will be soaked in water. If it is not watered too dry, the branches and leaves will shrink and the leaves will fall off. As for the heavy fertilizer, it will be life-threatening.
2. After the rhododendron flower is withered, the residual flowers must be cut off immediately, and after the new branches germinate, the branches should be thinned properly according to the modeling plan.
3. Potted azaleas should generally be placed in the southeast and should be ventilated. If it is not ventilated, it is easy to suffer from black spot disease and a large number of fallen leaves.
4. Azaleas avoid direct light in summer. Use a shade net to shade in hot summer.
5. timely thinning of buds and leaves, preservation of air circulation, removal of part of the buds and leaves that have grown too much and too dense, and concentration of nutrients to the buds. After the formation of buds, it is necessary to increase nutrition and apply more phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, otherwise the buds will be transformed into leaf buds.
6, 2 years to 3 years to change the soil once, damage the roots as little as possible, the time should be after blossom or autumn, while spraying topiramate to prevent diseases.
7. The pests of azaleas are mainly military insects, terminal bud leaf rollers, red spiders, aphids, etc., which can be sprayed with permethrin, and the effect is better, such as not dying after three days, spray again. The military worm (also known as the crown net bug) sprayed 1500 times of dimethoate during the damage period, once every 7 days for 3 times in a row. The control methods of terminal bud leaf rollers are mainly killed by artificial capture, and the larvae or pupae can also be sprayed with 2000 times of dimethoate EC or 1500 times of dichlorvos.
