Horseradish, also known as horse radish and horseradish radish, is a plant of Cruciferae with a very long history of cultivation. The earliest planting places to introduce horseradish in China are Qingdao and Shanghai; at present, the main producing areas of horseradish in China are Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning and Beijing. If we want to improve the yield and quality of horseradish, we need to improve the planting technology of horseradish first. So, today we are mainly here to learn some points for attention in the process of horseradish planting, please take a look at the wonderful content below.

1. Seed selection

The seeds of horseradish are small and oblate, but when we select seeds, we first consider the varieties of horseradish, and then choose full-grained seeds without other damage. But when we plant horseradish, we usually use the rhizome to propagate, so we have to choose the annual seed root without external harm. If the seed root is planted, the seed root needs to be stored in a more suitable environment to avoid heat and cold.

2. Soil

Horseradish has the characteristics of drought tolerance, fear of waterlogging, fear of stagnant water, so the soil viscosity of the planting land should not be too heavy, at the same time, it should not be too sandy, and the soil drainage of the planting land should be good, the soil layer is deep and fertile, preferably a slightly acidic soil. The last thing to note is that there can be no continuous cropping, the previous crop can not be cruciferous plants, preferably legumes, such a soil horseradish will grow better.

3. Planting time

Horseradish generally has no special requirements for planting time, which can be planted in spring and autumn, but mainly in spring. The planting time is usually between November of each year and April of the following year, that is to say, it cannot be planted in summer, otherwise it will affect the emergence rate of horseradish, as well as the yield and quality in the later stage. The best planting time of horseradish is from the end of March to the beginning of April every year, during which the survival rate is the highest.

4. Planting density

We need to maintain the permeability of the field when planting, which has a great impact on the yield of horseradish. Reasonable planting density can not only improve the yield and quality of horseradish, but also beneficial to the field management in the later stage. A reasonable planting density can generally plant 2500 to 3, 000 horseradish plants per mu, that is to say, the row spacing of horseradish is 70 to 80 centimeters and the plant spacing is 30 to 35 centimeters.

5. Punch holes

There is a very distinctive feature of horseradish cultivation, that is, drilling. When we plant horseradish, we usually drill holes in the planting ground ahead of time, according to the distance between the plants of 30 to 35 centimeters, with a depth of about 20 centimeters, and the holes should be at a certain angle to the ground, usually 45 degrees.

6. Cover the film

After horseradish is planted, cover it with soil. After ridging, spray herbs and cover the film. When covering the film, we should pay attention to that the film must be tightened and compacted around, otherwise it is easy to be blown away. After the film is covered, one more thing we must remember to do is to punch a round hole in the top hole of each horseradish plant, and then the surrounding area still needs to be compacted with soil.

If you can pay attention to these problems when growing horseradish, basically there will be no big problem. Therefore, in the later planting process, we must be very careful to improve the economic benefits of horseradish planting as much as possible.
